Hello Julie,good for you to make a strong choice to grab hold of your future.I am soon to be 55 and am about 7 mo. post. Like you my weight got uncontrollable in my 20es and I had struggled with it for 30 years.The surgery gives us a helping hand,it still requires will power and a strong desire to change. Welcome to the group!  I am about 4 1/2 months out and I can say that I would do it all over again.  I have lost 73 pounds so far and have another 64 to go.  For the first time in my life, I feel like I'm going to do it.  It's not a magical cure, but the surgery is a wonderful tool to help us get to where we need to be.

I too am 52 and just had WLS 12-21-09
I am now feeling great, down 48.2 pounds. I am so glad I made this decision.
You have a great patient attitude about waiting, that is so good.
