Bariatric Buddy
Need a food & exercise buddy and DRILL SARGEANT!
I won't get into it ALL here, but I am at the dreaded weight gain. I had RNY on 12/26/07, and as of last summer was down to about 165 (with 155 being my goal, lower than my doctor set) and am now back up to ... ugh, 180! (On a GOOD day..) I was a size TEN and now a FOURTEEN! Not good. I need someone who will bug me and stay on me about what I'm eating, how MUCH I'm eating, when I'm eating, etc... I'd love to meet someone near my age (I'm 27, divorced, still going through custody issues for our 3 1/2 year old) and situation.. Anyone? Anyone?
Drop and give me 10 right now Missy!!! Just kidding. So, what ARE you eating, how MUCH are you eating, WHEN are you eating??? Are you still following the "rules of the pouch"? You know -
"don't drink when eating, stop drinking 30 minutes before and don't drink for at least 30 minutes after eating, protein first, no carbonated drinks, taking all your vitamins, getting in your required protein, exercising". I think there are a couple of more, but that's what I remember off the top of my head.
It sounds like your life is extremely stressful right now with all you have going on. Are you taking time for you, taking care of yourself like you need to? It can be so hard for us to put ourselves first. Many of us are natural care takers of others, but have a really hard time when it comes to be caring for ourselves. Is there a WLS support group near by? How about a support group for people going thru divorce?
You seem to have made it to that stage where maintenance of weight loss can become hard. Have you checked out the forums on here for people that are trying to get back on track? If not, look into those and see if there's someone near your age and dealing with similar stress that can relate to what you are going thru. I'm 46, married 26 years and so we don't have that in common. On the other hand - I have struggled with my weight all my life and have had many times of great stress in my life. I have always dealt with that stress by eating, which is how I came to need WLS. Now I am having to learn to take time for ME, to FEEL and acknowledge my feelings when I am upset, sad, angry, or whatever rather than burying them with food.
All of us here have struggled and continue to struggle with weight and/or other issues in our lives. Please feel able to come here and share whatever you are going thru. We will all try our best to give you support and encouragement to get on track and lose what you have gained.
YOU CAN DO THIS! Yes it is hard, but YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!!! (Thanks Shari).
You have only gained 15 lbs. That is actually a pretty normal occurance for your stage from what I understand. That doesn't mean that you are stuck with it. You just have to make up your mind that you are in control of your weight istead of your weight being in control of you. We will gladly be your cheering section AND your kick in the pants if that is what you want. Post and let us know what's going on.
Hugs,
Rhonda

I need someone to fill the same roll for me. We are on opposite sides of the game. I am 47 almost 48, married for 2 years. My children have 4 feet and fur and say wuff, woof, bark, whine..... My hubby has a young adult son that lives in another state. My weight loss has stalled, I am now 6.5 months out from surgery. I find that I crave more carbs than I should have. When I stick to mainly protein, I feel soooo much better.
I am here for your support, and some tush kicking if the exercise isn't there. Remember that your child needs you to be as healthy as possible to nuture him/her through life.

have you talked to your surgeon about the weight gain. people do gain some after the 18 month honeymoon, so maybe this is normal. do you make a log of what you eat? if not, maybe you should start doing that. are you getting in your protein, exercise and liquids? take a hard look at yourself and be honest with yourself. good luck to you. vick
EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
I am so sorry you are going through this battle with the regain. I hope you find your accountability partenr! If you post here I will always read and reply encourage and support, even nudge or give a gentle kick in the rear.
If you look at the link button, you can sign up for a wls success newsletter. It had fallen behind because I was away for surgery, but will be coming out on schedule again. You may also want to see other things offered at the site.
Feel free to PM me if I can help you, or just post here.
Maybe we need to post a group challenge??? Seems a few of us are having a struggle with losing / keeping off the weight. Itis not easy, but with a group challenge, it adds accountability and makes it kind of fun. What do you think?
