What my day was like
Hello to all!
I hope everybody had a great day today. Mine was mostly good, just a little tired and a migraine. Thank God for liquid Vicodin.
I haven't been eating very much but the scale showed a gain of a pound this morning. After I got over wanting to throw the scale through the window, I remembered that there is always going to be fluctuations in weight and if I am going to insist on getting on that scale every morning I've got to learn to take the good with the bad.
I decided last week that it was time to do just a little clothes shopping. So I got my mom's Woman Within catalog and got quite a bit for $143; most of it to work out in. I got 3 pair of pants, 7 shirts and a new bathing suit. I am going to have take it easy on the strength training equipment and spend more time on water aerobics. The items I bought in a 1X are too big but they are mostly for the gym so I'm not going to worry too much about that. The rest of the things I bought were a straight large and fit great. The bathing suit is a 16 and is a little snug, but I can still wear it and I'll be able to use it for a while. There is something about being in the water that seems to alleviate most of my vertigo symptoms. I also went to buy a pair of the Therashoes from KMart that are the knockoffs of the Shapeups by Skechers. They were extremely comfortable but I was afraid of my balance issues with them so I passed on buying them. It is just getting worse by the day. I felt like an old lady but decided that I had to start using the shower chair. I have to go to the hospital in the morning for something called a tilt table test. I guess they basically strap you onto a bed-like table and spin it around and upside down to see if they can make you sick and screw around with your blood pressure. At one point, they give you some medication via IV to cause a rapid heart beat. Doesn't that sound like fun? I just can't wait for that adventure. I have been saying for the last year that I think my problem with balance and dizziness has been coming from my neck. I had an MRI done on Friday and they confirmed the arthritis that was discovered in an X-ray I had a few months ago and I also have 2 bulging discs and 2 herniated discs in my neck. I just turned 49 and I realize that as I get older they are bound to start finding somethings wrong, but I feel like I'm about 100 right now.
The good news is that even at 100, it's not to old to ride on the back of the Harley and riding season is almost upon us! It's been in the 50's here the last couple of days and is supposed to hit 60 tomorrow, although they are predicting rain. Hubby is getting the bike out of storage in about 3 weeks.
I'm still plugging along with my quilting class. I really screwed up a square, but at least I have learned enough to see what I did and know how to go about fixing it. The instructor and her boss decided on having a quilting club. It will be $10 a session, twice a month and we can make anything we want. It will be really good for me to pick my own projects and have someone who can answer questions.
I was also asked to be a group leader on a different website for a group that has nothing to do with weight-loss or gastric bypass surgery. Right now the group is very small but is growing every day. But it made me feel good that they asked and I almost never turn down an opportunity to be of help to others.
Well that's all for me folks. I started the process of purchasing DVD's to replace my VHS tapes and will be watching True Lies, one of my all time favorite movies. It's going to take a little time and money to get them converted over, but I found a website that has loads of old movies. Another of my all time favorites is Yours, Mine and Ours (the original version with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball). That will be next on the list.
I better quit rambling and head for bed. I hope you all had a great day.

Poor Coleen- that test sounds more like torture. Hope it at least goes by quickly, and maybe it will help them determine the cause of your vertigo.
Congratulations on your new clothes, that is always fun, especially getting into smaller sizes, I agree that the shoes might not be so good for you right now. The weather here had been beautiful the past 3 days, low 70's, but rain and cold are coming back tonight. I can hardly wait for spring.
Your quilting class sounds great. Wish we had something like that around here. I'd love to learn to quilt. My grandmama used to make beautiful quilts.
Congrats on being asked to be a group leader. You have a lot to offer and they recognized that! You go lady!!!

Having a really great day. Insurance approval came through.,Now just waiting for final appointment with Dr. Schumacher prior to the surgery. Hope it comes soon.
I love riding on the back of our Harley also. It has been in the 50's here this week and DH was going to get the bike out tonight but it looks like he took the truck instead. But the time is here.
We are planning a ride from Dayton, Ohio to Anchorage Alaska next July when he retires. Hopefully I will be a much lighter burden by that time.
Your test sounds like it won't be much fun but just think of it as a new amusement park ride and go for it. I know about the back problems. I ended up having a spinal fusion L4/L5 with 2 rods and 4 screws but it took away all of my back pain and leg pain, although my right upper thigh still goes numb on me sometimes.
Well that's all for me. Hope tomorrow's a better day.

Thanks Kathy. I will be shouting it from the rooftops when I get a date. Today going to GNC and pick up some ISOPUre to check it out. I already have a case of mixed flavors of Chike and some WalMart EAS Whey Protein Six Star Muscle. I have purchased all of my vitamins and some gas-X strips (by the way, they are awesome). Exercising 5 days a week. Swimming laps and weight training.
Colleen, I love yours, mine and ours too. That is quite a family. I like Rhonda's idea of thinking of the tilt test like an amusement ride. Never had one, let us know how much fun this turns out to be. lol

Colleen... wow, what a test in deed! Sounds like they should consider themselves lucky if you do not vomit all over them...lol. Let us know how it all goes!
Hooray for you being asked to lead a group! You will do a great job, just don't forget all of us here! lol. Congrats on your new, smaller sizes! how awesome is that! It is even nicer when you just KNOW you need that 1 X and then find out ...hmmm...maybe you didn't! Congrats! keep up the great work! Hope they get your vertigo figured out and eliminated very soon! How miserable that has got to be! Make sure you are taking B-12 and b-complex. Those b vitamins can cause lots of nervous system problems when they are low.
Janet Congrats on the insurance approval! That is always the biggest hurdle to jump! Let us know when surgery is for you! Keep up the great exercising efforts!
