Good Tuesday morning

Good morning all,

Its been a while since I posted so I thought while I have a few minutes to myself this morning I'd stop and update everyone.

Things for the most part are going well, still loosing weight, about 2 a week .. guessing that's good.

Yesterday I made an emergency appointment with the surgeon. I was in a lot of pain in my left side, and my lower stomach. The left side pain had been there since Sunday night, I was trying to just ignore the pain, figuring I had an appointment Tuesday things will be OK. Yesterday when the pain was on my left side and my stomach I got upset and called. Just after i made the appointment I vomited and my stomach pains felt a lot better! kinda felt stupid, but I still had the pain in my left side so I still went to get checked out. The doctor says I just pulled a muscle, being 8 weeks out from surgery it is very rare to find internal hernias. When she felt the area she said she could feel my muscle spasms. So I am just suppose to relax and ice my side down 3 times a day for 20 mins at a time. So glad that's all it was.

On the good news side, I am down to 217.8 .. 37 lbs down from the day of surgery. And I feel great. I am about to move from size 16 pants to size 14s .. I don't know the last time I saw 14s. And from an XL shirt to a L ... I feel so good about myself! Find I have a bit more confidence in myself.

Well bit personal note, my 3 year old niece moved back in with us, looks like it will be for some time this time. Not just a few weeks, this time, but for a few months or longer. until my sister gets herself in order. I'm thinking she is the reason I pulled a muscle. lifting her in and out of my car, or playing & running around. it is so hard to tell her i need to rest, when I want to be outside running around too.

Well I'm off to get a protein shake, and to relax for the day, back to work tonight, had to call out last night from all the pain, but I am gonna go back tonight, and relax in my chair with my ice pack o heating pad.

Good luck to all, have a safe and happy day :-)

Thanks for the update Melissa, your niece is so lucky to have you.  Have her climb up into the car and save your muscles.  Give her a hug for me.  Good to have energy to run around and play with her.

Congrats on the losing, you are working your tool.  Come back and update again soon.  Hugs

I forgot to say I had a GREAT wow moment the other day ..

So most know I am a volunteer firefighter and run volunteer with the local Ambulance (going to go to school to be an EMT this fall) well the other day I went to the monthly meeting for the ambulance squad and a member didn't recognize me!  It had been a while since they have seen me, and I am down 37lbs, dyed my hair and cut my hair. made me feel great. Everyone could see it. Also I went to answer a call and i could not fit in my jumpsuit, it was way to big for me. So I tried the gear on next to me, and i fit in the gear perfectly, Looked to see whose it was and it was one of the smaller (skinnier) members. It was a very good feeling!!

I have a quick question .. orange juice .. yes no maybe so?? I am getting a cold and all i want is orange juice, is it OK to drink? kinda high in sugars, but most of them are naturals.

OK now I am done. LOL

take care all

First of all congrats on your success with weight loss and your awesome WOW moment! How wonderful is thatr!
Now for the the oange juice question... If you want total honesty, most all wls docs and nutritionists will say NO WAY...too much sugar. They prefer we eat the whole fruit if we really must have an orange and get all benefits and not so much sugar that way. At this point, you may even find the sugar content of the orange juice could make you dump. So i would recommend if you really need to fill that craving, go for a half an orange and see how that sets. Also you may want to take some vitmain C. It is likely you need it, and thats why your body is craving the OJ.

I agree with Kathy, your niece is lucky to have you. I bet you miss her like crazy when you have had her, and she goes back home. Bless your heart for being there for her. You are probably the sunshine in that baby's life! (I know I know 3 is not technically a baby...but...lol)

I had lots of tenderness on the left side, right where there was absolutely no incisions or visable bruising or anything to see. It felt like a severe bruise, and I called it my invisable boo boo. I imagine this is what you have, only yours is not just bruised, just spasming...ouchyyy. this is caused from all of the stretching they had to do in our abdomen to get to everything they had to work on.  The muscle wall gets stretched out of the way and bruises the muscles. Muscles take much longer to heal than other tissues. Mine was tender for 4 or 5 months, but gradually got better. After about 3 months it only felt tender if I overdid it on something like lifting, or way more activity than I was used to.

It was great to hear from you and get an update! keep on keeping on!

Hi Melissa.I'm happy for you that it was a pulled muscle and nothing more serious. Lifting a 3 yr. old in and out of the car probably didn't help even if it didn't cause the injury. I'm sure you're happy to have her back with you for a while. Congrats on your weight loss, your WOW moments sound great, and just think, it'll only get better from here on out. Try to get enough rest to let that muscle heal, but still enjoy playing with your niece.

Take care-
Rhonda
