At three weeks out and having some off and on diffulty swallowing and going back to Stage two eating for another 5 days I got up this am feeling like "what have I done"? all these changes and they are forever!!! I keep trying to focus on the WHY I chose this and what it will mean for me in the long run but at the moment it is OVERWHELMING! Now this am I couldn't even eat yogurt or soupy oatmeal. It is not unusual fo people to feel like you do.. part of it can be grieving for the loss of comfort foods and the old "normal" you are so used to. It will pass as things get easier and the weight loss continues. Yes it can be so very overwhelming the first few months. It does get better.

What do you mean by difficulty swallowing? Is it the actual process of swalling, or is it that things are not sitting well once you do swallow them? I think this is probably an issue that you need to address with your doc first thing Monday morning. Take no chances.. just in case there's something going on. It may just be your body is taking a bit of time to adjust to everything. But a call to your wls surgeon or his / her nurse is probably in order to be on the safe side.

I hope you begin to be able to eat much more easily and that things settle down and get more normal feeling for you very soon. Let me know if I can be of assistance in any way, or answer any questions i may have the answer to.

Hang in there, it really will get better.

Almost everybody I have talked to, including me, go through a period of thinking, "OMG, what the heck did I do to myself?!"  You made a big decision and research and everything is great but you really don't understand the magnitude of the situation until you're in the middle of it.

Take heart; this too shall pass.

I felt that way the day after surgery.  As Patrece says it does get better and it does take some getting used to.  I have my moments when i wish I could eat the way I used to but then I look in the mirror and like what I see.  With only 5 1/2 weeks since my surgery, I've dropped 37 pounds and 3 sizes.  You'll like it once you get over the difficulty swallowing.  I had problems with taking medications after eating.  I'm not sure what you situation is but make sure you don't drink within 30 minutes of eating and space it out afterwards.  I have to wait 2 hours after eating to take medications (if that's your problem).  Make sure you don't overeat - that will cause vomiting too.  I had to go back on clear liquids this past week for a few days to resolve my problem but now I'm doing ok.
