Saturday in the Motor City
Hello everybody, here is my daily mumbo-jumbo.
I had to go for another MRI yesterday for another attempt to diagnose a specific problem for my vertigo. That's the third one in 8 months. I see the doctor on Tuesday morning and he might not have the official results back yet, but I at least I do have the DVD from the procedure.
I was really noticing yesterday about the difference between my new eating habits and the old ones. We ordered pizza last night. Pre-op it would have been 4 slices, extra bread sticks with ranch dressing for dipping and at least half a large bottle of Pepsi. Now it is a small slice, the cheese and toppings from another piece and a little diet Pepsi. There just simply is no way for me to eat the way I used to. Hurray!
As some of you may remember, I wrote about how my surgeon wasn't happy with my results thus far. Although I didn't read it, my PCP got a letter from the surgeon, telling him how great he thought I was doing. I am going to ask to see it when I go on Tuesday.
I started in the new vitamins today and already feel like I'm not defeated before I get started. I will intersperce the remaining chewable in until they are gone. I'm also paying more attention to my water consumption and trying to do better at getting more in.
Well that's all for me for today; I hope you all have a great night and tomorrow.

Colleen, Glad it is gong better! Also glad to hear your surgeon sent your PCP that letter..
Now.. because I love you and care about you...I have to add this.. Are you aware that post-op you are not supposed to drink carbonated beverages? They can cause pouch troubles, and also even diet soda can contribute to weight gain, or lack of loss in this case, so soon after your surgery? Some people for whatever reason were not told this by thier surgeon or nutritionist, so I just wanted to make sure you are aware. I just care and want your journey to be as successful as possible.
Hugs!

Thanks Patrece. I do know the risks and the rules about carbonated beverages. Having said that, I have 2 or 3 cans of diet Wild Cherry Pepsi a week. I never drink it out of the can; I always drink it with ice because it has a tendency to kill off some of the carbonation. I also know that cola beverages leech calcium out of our systems which we certainly don't need either.
My surgeon is pretty flexible with the soft drinks and coffee. He doesn't have a problem with regular coffee as long as it isn't counted as part of our liquids.

One other thought to add to Patrece's; carbination causes dehydration. So remember to drink equal amounts of water if you are going to continue to drink soda and it doesn't count as your water intake. I learned this from Weigh****chers. I was a diet coke drinker prior to going to the classes for my surgery. I'm glad I gave it up - it was just another addiction for me. My main addiction was food. Now I hardly eat anything. At this stage, which I know is early, I'm just not hungry. For me personally, I hope to not get back into old habits once I can eat what a I want. I want this to work, so for me I just avoid the things I shouldn't have in the first place 'cause I know if I start back on it, I won't succeed at my weight loss.
Ok... I can accept that! I just felt I had to make sure you knew..
