Hi everyone,
and Kathy B, I was going to pm you this but I thought why not share. My weight for the last 2 weeks has been from 202lbs to a low of 200.2 (almost thought I was about to go to onederland) and today it's back to 201.9. Arggggggggghhhhhhhhhh, I am getting my fluids in and my protein, I even got 101g of protein in yesterday. I know this is a stall and remember Kathy posting a discussion about stalls and not to worry about them, before I had even had surgery. I am 8 weeks post -op.
So, I know it is a stall, I would just love to hear from others about their first stall, when it breaks and how they coped with the frustration. I've tried to hold off from posting this, but it's gotten to me today. Thanks everyone :-))))))))) - just looking for reassurance, ,
the "old" me who would have encountered this would have given up on dieting and gone straight back to the food - isn't it great we can't do that any more!!!!! I love this chance I have been given.

i had a stall about your time out and i started eating more. my body had gone into starvation mode,so it was holding on to every oz. when i say i ate more, i don't mean shoveling it in, i mean just adding a little here and there. it worked, my stall broke and i kept losing weight.
i know how frustrating this can be for you, so please just hang in there and don't let it defeat you. don't give up and start eating all the stuff you know you shouldn't.
are you logging what you eat? maybe that would help you to find out if u do need to eat a little more or drink more water or have a usual amount of protein to get in. my surgeon says to not eat over 100 g of protein, that it can hurt your kidneys. have u talked to your doc about this? i get about 65-80 g of protein a day, usually closer to 70g.
it is great that you are posting about this. not only does it help you, it helps others also. we all learn from the different posts.
oh yea, how long has this stall been going on? maybe your body just needs a little rest. it is hard on the body to lose all this weight so quickly.
if i can ever help you or if you just need to talk, feel free to pm me. make a friend of me if you want, i need all the friends i can get. hugs to you, vick

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
Ohhh those dreaded stalls.. so frustrating but ohhh so normal. Hit my first at 11 days out, and stayed there a week and a half. Then hit one every month ofter that some as long as almost 3 weeks. The longer ones were after 6 months out from surgery tho.
Vick is right, often your body is in starvation mode. Squeeze in a small protein packed snack or protein drink on top of what you are eating now, and chances are the scale will start to move for you within a couple of days. Also be sure you are getting plenty of water.
The other thing is when I got where you are on the scale.. my body toyed with me for 3 weeks before jumping that 200 mark and landing me at 197, and into ONEderland. I literally jumped down from 201 to 197 overnight..
You are gonna make it.. fear not.. just try the suggestions above. Also if you have been doing the same exeercise routine for a while, shake it up a bit.. that often helps too.
Good luck.. and i want a full report when you hit ONEderland in a couple of days here! It is a big victory!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
The stalls or plateau's happen, take it instride, change up the exercise. I am in one too, getting outside for walking more now that the weather is getting warmer. I bounce up and down the same 2 pounds. Yes, in the past this would have led to a food prowl. I am sooooo happy that I have lost a lot and am not gaining. So, I will watch the scale bounce and enjoy where I am until the stall busts. It will one of these days. I can feel the improved energy with walking, going longer distances without feeling as fatigued. Hang in there friend. Hugs
This is so funny, I was going to make a new post similar to this. I am only 3.5 weeks out from surgery, and for the last 1.5 weeks I've been up and down with the same 2 pounds! So I am in the middle of "coping" with my first stall right now. It's funny, it started exactly at the same time as I started back to the gym!
I have been getting my protein and my fluids, I have been exercising and I am consuming 600 - 800 calories per day. Logically, the math does not compute - I should be melting away!
I know that the whole weight loss process is about as illogical as it comes. I know that my body is trying to hang on for dear life to whatever comes into my system - after all, I have thrown it for quite a loop! But knowing and accepting can be two different things. Aaaaggghhh, it's frustrating!

Hi everyone and thank you so much for all taking the time to respond, and encouraging me to do so, it helps me immensly.
Hi Vicky, I am logging everything I eat and drink, have been since surgery and my Doc wants me to eat 75-100 protein per day, (approx 1.2gm/ lb lean body mass) - when I lose more weight, he and my nut will give me new guideslines.
Like Darlene though, I should be melting away, lol. I have started "gymming it" - doing more cardio/ weights, so maybe that is linked too.
thanks again, just reading your stories helps me immensly :-))))),

ps I read all your responses to the man who was having eating issues/ vomiting and want to say that I have finally boooked myself in to see a psychiatrist, I did it last week.

I hit my first stall about 8 weeks out and went into a total panic. I went through all of this for nothing! We are going to have starts and stops and hiccups along the way. Although it is something I am not able to do, I was advised by a lot of people to stay the heck away from the scale. In another group I belong to, they call it being a "scale ho." I freely admit that I am. But I have also gotten to the point where fluctuations don't get to me the way they used to either. I think my first one lasted about 3 or 4 days.
I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that we didn't gain the weight overnight and we aren't going to lose it overnight either. For the first time in my life, I am able to accept that I am where I am and where I need to be for that particular moment. You said yourself in your post that you are doing it differently than the old you would have done. WOW!!! If that isn't a victory, I don't know what is.
