Tired, but had fun
Good afternoon buddy's,
I had an adventure over the last two days. I took off from home Friday morning, headed for the clinic for my 6 month follow up. Posted a little on that Friday evening. I got told to log my foods, change up the exercise, increase my fluids and protein a bit to see if I could break my plateau. No surprise in that advice is there? Now to start doing just that. Tomorrow is a new week, new month, new chance to do the changes needed. Look out March, I plan to storm in like a lion, (meow).
You recall, I said no to work requests for Friday, I took off for the twin cities area to visit my brother, sister-in-law and my nieces. Invited myself to spend the night at their home. This took me on a 3 hour drive to their place. Along the way I had the moon roof open and enjoyed the fresh air. the temp was in the low 30's, the sun shining. Gorgeous day for a drive. I stopped by an outlet mall for a little window shopping and a walk. Didn't find anything, but had a good time looking, went through a couple of dishes/kitchen utensil stores. Didn't find anything that I just couldn't live without. I called my sister-in-law as I was heading her way to see if she had any plans for the evening and to invite myself for a visit. The nieces were having a sleepover Friday evening. Total of 6 giggling girls, 3 cats, 1 dog, 2 parakeets, 2 aquariums and 4 day care kids at their home when I arrived. The day care kids gradually went to their homes. The rest were there for the night. I wrote replies to some threads while watching them play twister. Oh to be young and flexible. They had a blast. I was dog tired, crashed on the sofa about midnight, the giggling was still going strong as I passed out to sleep.
I awoke early and several times during the night, different noises, not my own bed. Up for the day at 5:30 am Saturday. Took their dog for a walk, I left my critters home with my hubby. Can you imagine the chaos of 2 more dogs to the above mix? I can... I went to coffee on Saturday with a group of wls friends that I met a couple of months ago. We chit chatted for a couple of hours. Shared moments and plans. As part of the group we each expressed something that we were going to do for this week. I will try the Wii eactive. I med Michael K., he is having his surgery on the 3rd.
After coffee, called my dad up, invited myself to his place for a visit and supper. Talked to Dennis on the phone and I was off 'on the road' again. This time headed west to see my dad. This involved another 2.5 hour drive. Still a great weekend for a long drive. I left the cities, headed west and stopped by my former place of employment to chit chat with old friends. Things are pretty much the same, and the same as nearly every work place. Good things and harder ones. I finally arrived at dad's place about 3:30 in the afternoon. Played a game of skipbo (his current fav) and we went to his basement and cleaned out part of a craft area. Threw lots of junk away, picked out some things that I 'absolutely' needed, lol. Yup like a hole in the head, lol. Packed the things I was going to use for a quilt project into the car. Dad and I went out to the local steak place, also the only restaurant in the town of 440 or so people. I saw several people I hadn't seen in a while, visited a little. Shot the breeze with dad. We enjoyed the meal, I sent my leftovers home with dad for something for today. Then started on my way back home. I had another 5.5-6 hour drive yet. I could have spent the night at dad's, but spent one night on a lumpy sofa, didn't want to spend one on an air mattress.
The moon was full, no clouds, the roads were dry. Good night for driving. I stopped every 60-90 minutes for a walk and bathroom break. Napped briefly at one point and stopped by a Walmart at 1 am. Nice time to shop, no crowds, lots of cleaning in progress. Today is our second wedding anniversary. I decided a new nightgown would be nice, I was still wearing the over sized ones from before wls. I used to be in a 3XL, found this cute yellow number in 1XL, The shoulders are where they belong instead of half way down my upper arms. I arrived home between 3 and 3:30 am. Greetings from the dogs were taking place. They missed me, I get the same greeting after being gone for 5 minutes. Doesn't matter, they love me.
I sat at the computer, planning to write the surgery list for this week, right, lol. My eyelids had other plans. They wanted me to watch home movies on the inside of my lids. The sleep won. I went to bed in my new yellow nightie. Gretta snuggled beside me. Did I mention that it is our anniversary this weekend, yes, well Dennis is on night shift and gone at work when I went to bed. I didn't hear the dogs bark when he arrived home this morning. Wished him a happy anniversary and I was asleep again in 2 seconds. I slept till 2:30 pm. Now rested and getting ready to take the critters out for a walk while there is still some sunshine out there. 30 degrees, nice for northern MN. I anticipate soggy dogs and need for a dog bath when we return.
So I babbled enough, drove several hours over the last 3 days and I am back. How is everyone else? Hugs, Kathy

Kathy, sounds like a lovely weekend. And I imagine that being away and having a little bit of alone time (even if just in the car) is a great way to recommit to healthy habits and resolve to up the bar a little bit. Best wishes on starting off a new week tomorrow with a bang!! I am sure you will have a plateau busting month!!

sounds like you had a great day! I went out and got the "light" breakfast at bob evans, consisted of one sausage link, egg beaters, and a fruit and yogurt parfait, got down two bites of the eggs, half of the sausage and about half of the fruit and yogurt parfait before I got that signal, if you put one more bite in me you will be sorry, so that ended that meal...sometimes, and only sometimes, I wish I could finish such a small meal, but alas, it's not meant to be, and truthfully I prefer to eat small meals, but oh sometimes...to be able to eat a "full" meal! LOL
kathy, you are an absolute hoot. your love for life is wonderbar. i love you my friend.
i am so glad u had some special time. i'm also glad that you came away from your doc visit with renewed hope and energy.
i know how darn great it is to be greeted with unconditional love by your babies. my babies are the same way. they are the cherries on top of life. we had to put down one of our dogs about a year ago. he was getting mean and sick. since then, two of our dogs have blossomed and become so loveable. i think they were intimidated by him. sad, he used to be the sweetest little, cutest little dog from the animal shelter. age just really changed him and being sick didn't help.
it is great to see the others bloom. my yorkie is always in my lap, definately a companion dog. now they compete for my lap. three dogs at once. the biggest is 12 pounds. now that i have lost weight, they can all fit in my recliner, if i use the leg lift thingy.
love, vick

Kathy - you are something else! Driving all weekend on a whim like that. I'm proud of you - - and glad you did it!! I love it when you show up to coffee - I think the group is always surprised and amused when you make it. I'm always so glad to see you - having our dates fairly close is a special bond.
Thanks for making the effort and I hope the Wii is fun for you. I did go home and get on my exercycle and will do so AT LEAST 3-4 times this week, like I said I would. We started doing a weekly goal in the group when a couple people wanted some accountability, and it seems to help me.

Kathy.. Glad you enjoyed your trip and stayed safe and sound along the way! i remember a similar trip last Sept you took just 2 weeks RNY post-op, and eventually it landed you in Colorado! I know i for one am glad you have an adventurous spirit!
Char I hear ya on the little meals thing.. once in a while I am eating something that uis just delicious and i find I am disappointed when my pouch signals full. BUT then after a moment, I am thankful it did cuz if not for my pouch keeping me in check, I probably would have overdone it.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Wow you are one gutsy lady - lots of driving. Sounds like a wonderful weekend. wish mine had been better. Will post it on another discussion topic.
You put me to shame. I don't like walking outside in our cold weather in the mountains. Of course part of that is the up and down of the hills where I live. Might be different if it was flat land with snow and cold - who knows. I seem to be very cold these days now that I have lost my "fat" that kept me warmer.
