My Wednesday

Hi everybody!

I just got home from my support group meeting.  I hadn't been to one since October due to one being cancelled, and then the holidays and everything.  It was a good group tonight.  We all went around and gave our name, procedure we had done and when and our weight loss along with some of the positives that have been a result of the surgery.  They also gave us index cards and had us write out some of the problems we were having and they actually addressed quite a bit before we had to give up the room (the meeting is at the hospital).

I thought I would pass along that there is a new alternative to supplements.  Celebrate bariatrics has just come out with combination multi-vit/calcium powder that you mix with water, like the individual servings of Crystal Light.  The nutritionist told me I could come by the office and she would give me a sample to try.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about my surgeon not being pleased with my progress.  Another group member made a comment about worrying about what the doctor was going to do because she didn't quite meet her 40 pound pre-op weight loss and is scheduled for surgery on Monday.  I decided to bring up the conversation I had with him and his girls told me not to worry about it.  It is his way and that I am doing extremely well.  It made me feel a lot better knowing that because I was thinking about cancelling the appointment.  They said he would be angrier about me not showing than not meeting the goal I made for myself.  He's apparently a lot of bark and very little bite.  I can live with that.

My food was really good the last couple of days.  According to my weigh in this morning I'm officially out of the teens; 9 more pounds to go til I get to Onderland.  It's been so long since I've been this "thin".  I got to wear another of my old favorite shirts tonight but it will be too big before too long.  Another one of my favorites went straight to the donation bag as it was just too big to wear.

One thing I really worried about is "losing steam" and getting lax about my eating program, but the reverse is true.  I'm actually a little more committed every day and that's a very good thing.

Well I'm done rambling for now.  Up and out early in the morning for a quilting class.  I hope you all had a great day.

So glad you had a great support group meeting. they can really be very helpful to us in our journey. It helps to know others can relate, have been where we are or were and to exchange ideas and tips.
Good for you in the food department! I am soooo proud of you! I remember not long ago you were struggling a bit there. My husband told me that if 2 years ago anyone told him I'd be eating mostly fruits and veggies and lean meats, he'd have thought they were cracked...lol. Not that I am perfect.. heck no.. but try very hard to do well with each choice.

Isn't it great shedding those old clothes because they are too big.. Used to be they were put aside due to getting too tight, when it goes the other way, it is soooo delightful!
Keep up the awesome work colleen, you are doing wonderfully!

Hi Colleen, I wrote a note yesterday, then computer whatever, probably hit the wrong button when trying to send the reply.  I am so glad that you made it to a support meeting.  Hope the sewing class went well too.  Have fun losing the baggy clothes.  Hugs
