I'm scared
I'm 2 months out from RNY. I'd lost 40 pounds but, I gained a pound today.
That scares me. I didn't think I'd gain weight this soon.
I've lost 13 and 1/2 inches from all over. My clothes are baggier. I know I was dehydrated for a bit but now able to drink more. I hope that is it. I'm doing everything according to what the nut told me. HELP

Hi Ann don't worry about that pound it's most likly water weight we all get those days. I'm 6 months out and still have ups and downs. Right now I'm in a stall so these things will happen. Just remember to sip sip sip and eat your protein. increase your walking a little and in no time you will drop that pound. we are all here to root you on.
What you are experiencing is totally and completely normal. Day to day fluid in our body can vary, also if we are constipated, that can change the weight a bit. If adding muscle, that can change it too. Don't panic! Just be sure you get in your fluids, protein and some activity and you are going to be okay. You will notice as time goes on, your weight will fluctuate up and down a bit more the farther out you get. As long as it stays within about 2 to 3 lbs, it is most likely water weight causing the change.
Sometimes, it can help to shake things up a bit too. Up your protein a hair, increase your food a tad, change your exercise routine. Usually one or two of these things will get you back to dropping the weight. Often when i was early out like you, if my weight loss stopped or even went up a pound, upping my water and protein would get me moving nicely again.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Hi Patrece,
Thanks for your encouragement. I know it's crazy to worry about 1 lb.
I've been in a stall since Feb 12 and then weighed today to find the gained pound. I know the scale can be crazy making if I dwell on it. I will up my fluid and protein and hope to see some weight loss. Let's hope for warmer Colorado weather to get out for more walks.
I so appreciate your response.

I know just what you mean and how you feel. I hit my first plateau at 11 days out, and hit one once a month thereafter. I really panicked the first couple of times, then came to accept that it was just how my body handled things. It is hard not to get scared, but I promise, it will pick up again for you. Remember too, as time goes on the loss slows little by little. This too is normal, so try not to panic. But again, I remember oh too well how it felt. I'll bet the fluid and protein will give you the boost you need.
I am here anytime. I know i have not been around a whole lot lately, as I am sleeping alot and recovering from my surgery, but I promise to reply as soon as possible if you need to PM.
I too wish this weather would get better. I really need to get walking in too, as it really helps with recovery and preventing clots, and it is getting old walking in circles around the house! I tried a short walk the other day outdoors, but the cold wind whippedd at my ears and face and really hurt the incisions from my neck lift (gobbler removal..lol).
Ya know, you just live too close for us to not meet in person one day soon!

It is so helpful to hear others experience and know it's normal to feel the way I do.
I have followed your surgery updates and I'm so excited for you to have your surgery done. Praying for quick recovery. Yes, rest as much as you can.
I'd love to meet you too! Hopefully sooner than later, maybe when you feel better.
At least the sun came out today.
Your encouragement means so much, Thanks~

Thanks for your response. It sounds from all the responders that this is normal even this soon out. I will take in more fluids, up my protein and walk, walk, walk. I know it's crazy to worry about 1 lb. I've been at a stall then weighed today and saw the 1 lb gain and felt some panic.
It is so helpful to be able to share and have others farther down the road respond with such care.
Thanks again~
