how long was your stay?

I'm hoping to have my RNY the first week of April.  I'm curious how long everyones stay was at the hosp.  I'm 32 with no major health issues *knock on wood*.  I'm guessing I'll be in the hospital 2 days or hopefully only 1.  Just wanted to pick fellow buddies brains.

Everyone have a great weekend!

 Good luck Michelle!

I just had surgery on Wednesday and I came home last night so just about 36 hours in the hospital (and I could have come home at about noon yesterday if I'd had a ride :o) )  A lot depends on your surgeon and what they require.  Best of luck to you!

I had surgery at 4pm on a Monday afternoon and was home by 530pm the next day.  If you are walking, peeing, not vomiting and pain can be controlled by oral meds they will send you home.  I wanted to get home ASAP.  I wanted to sleep.  You can't really rest in the hospital.  It was good to get home.

Melissa,
I went in on Friday and came home on Sunday. Friday night and Saturday were pretty rough with extreme nausea but I was much better by Sunday and released early that aftenoon. I think the morphine didn't agree with me and luckily I had very little actual pain and barely used it. My doc thinks the anesthesia was what made me so nauseated. Good luck with your surgery when you do have it and hope everything goes smoothly for you.

I had surgery Monday am and was released thurs am. so 3 full days. He wanted to keep me an extra day because I was an hour from the hospital and he didn't want me that far and having issues. Good luck in securing your surgery date!

I guess I was the exception to the rule. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days, for no apparent reason as far as  I could tell but that was better than the 20 days my surgeon had threatened to keep me in there!

Over 110 lbs lost!! (Finally!)

I had surgery on Wednesday at 11 a.m., arrived at the hospital around 9 a.m. for preparation. I would have been "allowed" to go home on Thursday evening but really didn't feel up to it. I couldn't sip liquids (1 oz every 15 min for an hour... consistently) to assure hydration and had some tightness. Thursday evening I turned the corner and felt like a new person. I was released Friday morning around 11 a.m. and have been resting at home. I'm trying not to do too much but recovering seems to be moving along :)  - jennifer
