Middle of the night

It's very early AM here in the Motor City.I woke up at about 2 and haven't been able to go back to sleep.  On the upside, my kitchen is clean!

There isn't too much else I can do in the way of housework that won't wake up the family, so I thought I would come here and babble for a bit.

I'm getting ready to switch over from chewable supplements to ones I can swallow.  I have been reading posts from some of my other groups by members who have made the switch and are having great labs, not to mention extra money in their pocket.  I don't do very well with my supplements simply because I gag on them.  So I am going to switch over to Citracal +D and am still working on selecting a good multi-vitamin.  I realize that I am going to have to take more than the recommended dosage due to the malabsorbtion issues, but that's okay by me.  The chewables aren't doing me much good of I'm throwing them up,which has happened rather frequently.

I'm currently down a total of 67.8 pounds.  I actually wi**** was later in the day; I would hit the gym, but they don't open until 10AM on Sundays.  My goal is to get to 200 pound by the end of the month.  I'm not sure if it's possible, but sure am going to try.  I'm feeling a little hungry at the moment so I think I'm going to have a hot V8 juice and a couple of crackers.  It makes a good substitue for tomato soup without all the added sugar and helps to get a serving of veggies in.

I also realized that I need to make some additional changes in my regular diet, specifically adding more fish.  Lots of protein, low in calories and tasty.  I am using the Gorton's filets (non-breaded or battered).  My hubby bought me some yesterday but left them in the freezer at work so I think I'll go get some today after my workout.

Well that's all for now.  Going to watch some NCIS on my Ipod and hopefully get a few more hours sleep.

I'm having a horrible time with sleep as well.  I can't seem to sleep longer than 5-6 hours and that's with waking up a few times during the period.  I see you had your surgery in September last year.  Is this something new for you or have you had this all along?  I'm hoping this will go away soon.

HI Marybeth,I had a couple of weeks post op where I was awake part of each night.  By a month out, that was much better.  Now when I am up in the middle of the night, I chalk it up to working straight night shift and on my days (or rather nights) off, I will sometimes be up for a while.  I do not try to shift to daytime awakeness for my days off, just take things as they come.

Not to worry, Marybeth.  I have been battling insomnia for about 12 years now.  I actually got a break from it about 3 weeks post op and was sleeping 7 or 8 hours every night.  This getting up at 2AM is something that just started a couple of days ago and I'm hoping this is just temporary.

I've had it for 20 years but usually my sleep aid was able to enable me to fall back to sleep when I woke up - not working now.  See the doctor on the 17th and will ask about it.

Hi Colleen, I was up part of the night too, 3-5. I finished a wall hanging and washed 2 loads of laundry. Yes there are things to do that don't wake up everyone. The dogs came to watch me, more interesting than to watch Dennis sleep.

Ironically, that is what I'm doing - laundry. Plus working on a project that I needed done for work.  So its good.
