Hello,

My name is Denise and I am a mother of two an educator and severly overweight.  I am happy to be here.  I have 6 months to wait for my surgery.  I really wanted to have it this summer but i have enough sick days to hang in there and get it at the start of the school year.  I have always been the BIG GIRL of my group of friends and I had come to be fine with it... My health however is more important to me.  I am excited about this journey and ready to reach every step with my head held high!

I can not wait to get to know some people to share this journey!

Hi Denise, Feb of 2009 found me in your shoes.  First wls seminar, needing to complete the 6 month supervised diet.  I lost 44 pounds during the diet and now, 5 months after surgery I am up to a total of 100# long gone.  Hang in there with the process, do what you can to lose weight during this time and I will be there to hold your hand and offer support along the way.

This 6 months will fly on by and you will be so ready for the actual day of surgery. Read many posts and share with others as you can.  Any questions are fair.  Hugs

Welcome to the group, Denise.  This a great group of people; lots of love and support here.  I'm glad you found us!

That 6 months will fly by.  This surgery isn't the easy way out, but I would do it all over again.  Please keep us posted on how you are doing with your diet, appointments, etc. and feel free to ask questions.

Welcome Denise. Sounds like you know exactly what you want and what it takes to get there. I agree that even if you feel okay about being the big one in the group, when it starts to affect your health, it's time to make some changes. Like everyone said, the time will fly by and you'll in surgery before you know it and on your way to a brand new life. I'm just starting out on my post op journey, but I know I'll soon feel the same way about these weeks and months! Post alot and let us get to know you!
