Bariatric Buddy
I made it to the other side!
I made it through surgery Friday and I came home yesterday. I'm pretty sore but the pain has been much less than I imagined it would be. My main problem was extreme nausea the first 24 hours. I had my gallbladder removed at the same time as my RNY so I don't know if that contributed to the problem. It seemed to get worse if I used the morphine pump, so I barely used it. Something happened that DID terrify me, but it turned out okay- I threw up ruby red blood and just knew something was wrong and they'd have to go back in to fix it. My nurse (who had not seen this before) called my doctor at 3 am. The doctor was not worried (very comforting) and said it was probably residual blood left in the stomach that most people pass thru their bowels but a few throw it up instead. So when I did it again 2 hours later, I wasn't nearly as upset. After that, I only had dry heaves a few times. But by Sunday morning, all that was gone. They gave me Boost and I kept it down fine although I can't handle much at a time. Thanklfully, plain water doesn't bother me either, I'm actually very thirsty and just have to be careful to sip, sip.sip. So anyway - slip over losers and make room for one more!! Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support!
Hugs,
Rhonda
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference...
WE CAN DO HARD THINGS!!!
I'm glad to hear you're doing well - and make sure you leave a little extra room for me on that loser's bench!
Best of luck to you as you continue your recovery - keep us posted!
