I got that dreaded full feeling yesterday

So I thought I could do a double serving of carnation instant breakfast (16 oz) to try and "make up" for my protein!! haha I dont think so!  I finished the double serving in about an hour - hour and 1/2( which I know now is too fast)  It went down fine, but two hours later I started feeling gassy, stomach started gurgling and then I felt that dreaded tight, full feeling in my chest.  I was just thinking that same day, wow I havent felt that full feeling yet- well I spoke too soon!  It took about an hour to an hour and a half to start feeling ok- is that time frame normal?

I was so scared to drink anything the rest of the night and even today but knew I had to.  So this morning I made sure I sipped in small amounts every couple minutes and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to finish my 8oz carnation (does that seem right amount of time?!!?)  I really think I would have been ok without that double serving of carnation and trying to fini**** so quickly, any thoughts/advice?

I am just trying to get in all my liquids that I need, hopefully it will get easier to do that!  I am nervous about being able to get enough liquids in while starting to eat pureed foods also, I guess I just need to get on a plan of when to drink/eat.

 thanks!
Liz

It's been one week!!  Do exactly as your Dr. suggested you do.  Every Dr. does things slightly different, but I think this early you still need to sip very little.  In my first week it would take me 4+ hours to get down 16 oz.  I'm having difficulty with getting all the vitamins and water in now that I am back at work but I  know I have to make it a priority!  I noticed when I stopped journaling, I stopped drinking and taking my vitamins....soo it's back to writing everything down!!  Good luck with your journey!!

I know I think I am so worried about getting dehydrated and getting in 48-64 ounces of liquid.  I  just have to take small sips.  I do not feel so bad now.  I am doing good with the vitamins, I need to order calcium- I got samples of bariatric advantage lozenges which I think I like best.  Thanks again!

Lesson learned.  Tough lesson, but you will sip a little frequently.  I heard someone explain that you divide your meals into several small ones to provide the nutrition needed for the day.  Same thing with the fluids, they need to be spread over the day.

Glad you are feeling better.  Take it easy today.  You are still learning the ins and outs of your new pouch.

When it does come time for you to get solids in remember to chew thourougly or you will get what has been come to known as "The Foamies" .  That is not a wonderful feeling when something is blocking the opening out of your stomach and it either resolves itself in a few minutes or you have to get it the heck out.
