Back home at last!
Here I am, home again after surgery. It feels wonderful to be home again after almost a full week in the hospital getting my innards rearranged, but it also feels very strange because I feel a bit like I'm riding a storm at sea and don't quite have my "sea legs" yet. As a matter of fact, the simile is quite apt, I'm a bit dizzy, somewhat nauseous and not really sure what's next.
The surgeon assures me that my VSG went well and that if I follow directions to the letter for the next month everything will be fine. On the other hand, he was extremely nervous that I may not be able to follow those directions and his nevousness rubbed off on me. I pretended to take his comments lightly and even made a joke as I was leaving that I'd go right home and cook a lamb for dinner (it was sort of fun to see him panic) but I did wonder how I had given him the impression that I am not dependable. *sigh*
I wonder if my surgeon is overdoing it a little when he tells me that I shouldn't drink more than a sip every 3-4 minutes? Was your experience similar? At this rate, the glass of milk I am now nursing won't be empty until the wee hours of the morning. Also, I have read how you guys haven't been hungry at all. Well, I have to admit that I have been starving this week, perhaps because doc won't let me have any protein drinks until the end of the month. As a matter of fact this present glass of milk has been the first thing that has passed my lips this week that sort of seems a bit like food.
Anyhow, I have a feeling I'm going to be leaning quite a bit on my friends here to help me during this period.

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
Welcome home, Amalia! Glad to hear that you are doing well.
I don't really know anything about the VSG, other than it is relatively new and isn't covered by many insurance companies as of yet. My surgeon wasn't even doing them yet when I went for my GBS.
I would definitely follow your doctor's instructions. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Amalia, I was thinking of you this morning as I said my prayers for those having surgery this week. And, here you are posting. Congrats on getting over to the losing side of surgery. I am not up to date on the VGS, do follow your MD orders.
Take care of yourself, glad the admit didn't last the 3-4 weeks you talked of before surgery. Work on your fluid intake, water, milk, as directed. I am here for your support. I have complete confidence that you will follow your directions to the letter.
This loser's bench is special, no splinters for those of us who are sliding over. Glad to have you on our bench. Hugs, Kathy
