Hello Everyone!! I am a Newbie

Just like to introduce myself.  I have a long journey ahead of me but willing to embark on what I call the hardest challenge that I have ever had to overcome.  It has been to easy to make excuses for overeating for many years and now has caught up with me.  On January 6th I decided after a year of research to follow through with Lap Band procedure.  I had my third but second official doctor's visit yesterday.  All is well and 8lbs down.  :)  Dr. Ganta wants me to lose total of 18lbs. before surgery.  I was excited to tell him that I am almost half way there and over two months to go.  I would rather lose more than that to make the surgery a little smoother.  So here I go.  Not much support at home when I have loved ones ask me if I would like something that is not "healthy" for me.  But I am sure they dont mean to intentionally.  :)

Best wishes to everyone!!

Good Morning Chavner,

Welcome to the bariatric buddy family.  We are here to offer the support that our family needs, the same support that is sometimes lacking or lukewarm at home.  You have spent a year researching, a lifetime living and do know what you need to change to improve your health.  Now THAT is healthy.  I am excited for you that you have lost some weight already and agree that losing more than the requited weight will make the surgery easier.

Come back and read many, many posts.  Add one of your own from time to time and answer posts from others.  We get out of this what we put into it. Use us for sounding posts, share your thoughts, concerns, joys, questions.  I am so glad I had my wls done.  My body is happier with less weight to carry around.  Keep up the great work on improving your health.  Hugs, Kathy

Hey there! Welcome to our group. trust me, you will find many here that understand just about anything you will find yourself faced with. My hubby was that one that had to "be nice" and offer me bites or pieces of this or that, that he knew darned well I was not supposed to be eating. I finally told him that although I know he is trying to be nice and share, that it just really resulted in temptation and frustration for me, so to please stop trying to be so nice. I had to remind him a few times, but he finally got it. I told him if I am hungry or want something you have, i'll ask...just please do not offer and tempt me.
It will get better..
You are doing great with the weight loss! keep up the good work, and come here and reach out if ever you need advice, encouragement, support or even want a kick in the pants..lol

Thanks to all of you.  I really appreciate the warm welcome.  Hopefully the weather will clear up so I can get out and walk again.  I love the fresh air.  It was too cold yesterday.

Best wishes to everyone!
