Checking in 1-26

Hi gang!  Forgive me if I'm a little goofy; I had some minor, out-patient surgery this morning and the bottom line is I'm stoned.  I look ridiculous (sp?) with a small drain taped to my nose and gauze taped over my nasal passages.  I have to breath out of my mouth and it's making my throat dry and sore.  On the upside, I am finally getting the coffee I was "jonesing" for at 3AM this morning!

It was good to be able to get to the chat last night, but I feel bad because I went to look at a website for some info for someone and when I came back the chat didn't seem to be working.  So my apologies for seeming rude and leaving without saying anything, especially since I showed up late and realized I monopolized the meeting.  My apologies to all  Annielou and anybody else who might be looking to get some extra potassium because of leg cramps, I posted a website that lists potassium rich food and hopefully that will help out some.

I spoke with the nutritionist yesterday and she says the reason I've been so hungry is that I'm not eating enough.  I have been trying a modified version of the Weigh****chers diet but I think I just simply made too many cuts.  I am worried about not meeting my goal of 45 pounds lost by April and catching heck from the surgeon so I really cut back on calories and it simply isn't enough food.  My repsonse to that was to start grazing, trying to take the edge off the hunger pains and that backfired and I actually gained 3 pounds.  But yesterday was a much better day food wise and I lost half a pound.  I really need to be patient and just do the right thing when it comes to eating and if the surgeon doesn't like it, too bad.  As I have mentioned, I am also participating in OA and got an idea from a member from the online group.  For everyday that I can stick to my food plan, I get a sticker for my calendar.  I know that sounds kind of dumb, but that kind of thing works for me.  I am simply counting calories and trying to really pay attention to protein.

Anyway, I just took more pain meds so I'll shut up for now.

I really love this group; you guys are terrific!

Colleen, you did not monopolize chat.  We evolve topics depending on needs of those present.  Last evening, we needed to chat food, and we did.  Thanks for the site for potassium foods.  I get booted off and have trouble getting back to chat from time to time.

Hope you heal quickly from your procedure.  keep sipping.  I need to increase my protein too.  Today craving oranges.  No protein there, supplementing with a shake too.

Glad that you stop in to check in several times a week.  Let's get our protein in.  Hugs, Kathy

Happy to hear that you have a solutiion and are back on the losing track now. I'm sorry that your surgeon was so threatening that it made you afraid to eat! He should understand that everyone is different and loses at different rates, and know better than to treat you like that. As for the stickers, I say do whatever works for you! Sounds like you are really getting a handle on this thing all the way round, so you go girl!!!
