Again ? about protein
As anyone used Ensure High Protein drinks? I work at a hospital and can get them but not sure if good for HNY people. I do plan on asking my doctor or nut. when i see them but for now just wonder what you guys know. The package says cal. 225, protein 12, total card 30.8 sugars 19 and total fat 6.0. to me it looks like it may be high in sugar but the optifast drinks my doctor as me on now for my pre op is 17g of sugar, calories are 160 total fat 3 total carb is 20 oh and protein is 14.
To me it looks like it may be a good choice, what do you think??
There is another choice that is called Promote that's about the same as the insure drink.
Thanks in advance
Here is what i use for extra protien.
EAS Advantedge carb control::
110 calories
3 gs fat
6 gs of carbs
fiber 3gs
sugar 0
protien 17 gs
You can get these at walmart, they come in a 4 pk for $4.97. They really taste good.
I also use the protien shot, that comes in a fruit flavor. it is 3 ozs. It cost 1.97 each or you can buy a 6 pks for $9.97. These is what i use. Hope it helps you.
Now one thing you may consider using is the No Sugar Added Carnation instant breakfast, then add a scoop of protein to it and you have a protein packed meal replacement. It even has a decent amount of protein without adding any extra to it.
I know this can all be very overwhelming at first, but don't worry, it gets easier as you become more familiar. You want to stay with a lower carb protein source. Ensure is actually a total meal replacement. You want to use protein that does not contain sugars, or very very little. carbs should be pretty low.
