Bariatric Buddy
new to OH
Hi everyone I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Amy and I have officially decided on the RNY bypass. I do not have a surgery date yet but they assure me it will be by the end of February. My best friend and I are doing wls together, expect she is doing the band. The more that I look at the bypass I find myself being more scared of the unknown. However what I do know is that I am so ready for the change in my life. I hope to find OH to be of great support. I look at the before and after pictures and it just encourages me even more. I CAN DO THIS!!!
amy, welcome to our growing family. you will find support here. there are a lot of nice people. be sure and post and tell us about yourself so we can get to know you. also, tell us how you are feeling so we can be there for you. by the same token, you can be there for others. i know i have gone through some things that people who haven't even had their surgery yet are supportive of me. i had my surgery 1/22/09. i have lost a total of 153 pounds since nov of 09 (this included my presurgery diet). i am now down to 129.7 and wear a size 6. i had rny also. i am 57 and married with two grandkids. there, now you know about me. glad you possted.. also on monday we have a chat session at 6 central, 5 mountain, 4 pacific and 7 eastern. it is in the bariatric buddie chat room. just look to the right and you will see the button for chat. it lasts about an hour. it varies on how many show up, but it is a good place to meet people. you can also pm (personal message) people and ask to be their friend. this will make it easier to send pm's to them. good luck to you, amy. let me know what i can do for you. vick
EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
Hi Amy, welcome to OH. This is a great place for support. I was100% Band at first but the more I researched the 3 procedure options my mind changed to the RNY. I am with you with being scared of the unknown but I had it done 4 days ago. The surgery and initial recovery went far better than I thought it would. No major pain, and the pain I did have from the Lap incisions and gas were easily controlled with meds and I was discharged the next afternoon. Now I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks and mainly just learning to adapt to my new "setup" . No problems nor regrets at this point. I will be happy to answer any questions you have. YOU CAN DO THIS!!
Hey Fletch, congrats on making it to the losing side of surgery. Hoping to hear more about you as you progress through the loss. Welcome to the losers bench.
