Saturday morning
Good Saturday morning to all!
I am sitting here having my delicious, nutritious, protein shake; Nectar Sweets Chocolate Truffle with 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 banana. I took a nap yesterday and ended up going to the fabric store and grocery shopping, but forgot to buy bananas. I have to go pick up a prescription this morning so I'll head to the store and get what I need and then I'm in the house until Tuesday night, when my new quilting class starts. I'm still trying to recuperate from this dumb surgery I had last week. I guess it seems like I should be feeling better because I keep classifying it as "no big deal." The bottom line is that it was not a fun procedure and I just need to give myself a break and time to heal. This morning is the first morning that I haven't had a bloody nose from this, so that's good.
On the upside, I lost the weight I gained from the IV and then some and am below 220 for the first time (219.8, but I'll take it!) I have 5 days worth of stickers on my calendar, signifying the 5 days that I have stayed withing my calorie range and that's a good thing too. I won't make it to my OA meeting this morning; I just don't feel up to it.
I hope you all have a great, protein-packed day!

Good Morning Colleen! Good for you staying on track with your intake. Does your Doc have you counting calories? Mine, and most just have us watch carbs and protein and fluids this early, and then later, when we can eat more, tracing calories. How many calories do you allow yourself each day?
Have fun at your quilting class. I had fun making a rag quilt at kathy's house. I got home and went to a fabric store to get some fabric to play a bit more, and about died! Man stuff is so expensive! there was a time it was cheaper to make your own clothing, quilts, etc... but that time is long gone. Just the cost of batting is enough to kill a person. lol.
Get better very soon! keep up the great work gal!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Good morning, everyone! Colleen congrats on the loss and the new low! :) That's awesome. And I hope you just take care of yourself, take it easy, and let your body tell you when you have had enough recovery time. One of the major learnings for most of us with this surgery is just to be good and kind to ourselves with healthy habits. :)
As for me, I am really discouraged this morning. Patience is a virtue, I know, and it is very common to hit a plateau at 3 months out, but I have only lost about 2.5 pounds in the last three weeks. I just feel that given my intake of food, I should be losing way more right now. I am not eating "bad" foods, very little if any carbs. Again, my head tells me not to worry, but the rest of me isn't buying it. I know what the problem is....I don't get enough protein in (I just am not hungry anymore and can't seem to find time to get all my food in), I probably need more liquids (ditto on the time and thirst), I definitely could up my exercise although I am getting there and doing much better than I have in the past, and I need to write down everything so I have some real data on how I am doing.
Life has just been so busy that I am finding I hardly have time for me!!! Ugh! Work...home stuff...friends and family...community commitments...support groups...healthy habits...stress-reducing activities...self-care practices!! How do we manage to do it all!!
Really just ranting....I know I need to step up my protein, liquids, exercise and monitoring. That's the bottom line, isn't it???
I hope everyone else is having a great Saturday! We are having yet another snow storm. As beautiful as it is outside, I am just getting a wee tired of winter, and winter really holds on here in the mountains. We defintiely have another 6 weeks plus to go no matter what the groundhog sees on Tuesday!!
OK, off to have a protein shake...and I need to try one of these online food montoring tools!!
Be well!

guayas, are u sure u are eating enough? if you get in starvation mode, that will stop u from losing. i would start with logging all your protein and liquids first since u are having a hard time with those. then get that sstraightened out. if that doesn't work, try eating a little more. just small snacks during the day. hand in there. sounds like you are getting overwhelmed. try to simplfy your life a little. prioritize what needs to be done. we can't do everything. take a chill pill. lol lol
hope things will get better for you. vick

LOL, Vick! A chil pill. Know where I can get a prescription??? hahaha... I think I need it!
Thanks for your suggestions. I will definitely start with the food log, even though this was one thing I always HATED about diets in the past. But, then I think I was afraid that it would show me I was eating too much (like I didn't know that already!!). Now, I need it to help me eat more. <<>> I find that so funny and so ironic!
Wishing you a wonderful Saturday!! :)

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
Hello again!
Guayas, I agree with Vickie. I am 4 months out tomorrow and have hit a plateau 3 times. The nutritionist told me that protein is key in weight loss.
Patrece, the nutritionist told me to keep it around 1200. I mostly stick with 1000 but today I may actually go over. I don't really watch fat too much; I need some flavor in my food.
Vickie, I had a procedure to address an infection that I had in my sinus cavity. It has likely been there for years. They went up there and scraped out the cavity and nasal passage. It was uncomfortable but they gave me good drugs. The real problem started when I went back to the doctor to have the packing removed. It felt like they were pulling a zucchini out of my nostril. I immediately broke out in a sweat, was intensely nauseated and felt like I was going to pass out. I haven't felt right since then. All day today I have been dizzy (they did this to try and correct my dizziness and so far it's worse) and feeling like I got kicked in the gut.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

Sorry you are on the low down from your sinus thing Colleen. Hope it all resolves quickly. I spent the day alternating between activity and nap. Getting in protein by greek yogurt, reg. yogurt, cottage cheese. Making a shake in a few minutes.
