Help!!! I'm stuck
Help I'm stuck!!!! I had my vsg surgery on the 9th of dec 2009 and i've lost 30 lbs so far but i haven't lost anything since new years day. i started going to the gym last week and just started back to work on monday the 11th. I'm getting frustrated because i don't know what i'm doing wrong..any suggestions would be grateful...thanks
Chris, take a deep breath, you have had a lot of changes happening in the last few weeks. You body is adjusting. Try to increase your fluids and protein a little. You will start to lose again soon. My body goes through stages of loss and plateau. Changing things up a little usually helps. But you have had several changes in the last couple weeks. Do not weigh every day, just once or twice a week is enough. We can become slaves to our scales and allow them to control our lives.
Your body is realizing that the abundant source of excess calories has stopped and trying to save what little is entering. This will resolve shortly. Best of luck. I had and have times like this too. Hugs, Kathy

Chris... I agree with Kathy here. I was 11 days out from my RNY and hit a sudden plateau for over a week and a half. I was livid! Since then I have learned we all go through this. It is 100% normal and to be expected, and it is just a part of the journey we have to endure. As you get farther out, the plateaus can last longer, with less loss in between them too, so try very hard to accept this is just part of how it goes, and don't panic that you are doing anything wrong. You probably aren't.. Try Kathy's suggestions. Make SURE you are getting in plenty of water and your protein. Also be sure to eat all of the mals you are supposed to to help avoid starvation mode. Also with exercise, we can be losing inches but not see that reflected on the scale, as the fat is being replaced by muscle which is more dense than fat. Hang in there.. you are going to do just fine! Feel free to reach out anytime you need encouragement, advice or info..
