More exercise
It was great to see everyone in the chatroom last night and I'm looking forward to participating again.
I went to the surgeon today and he isn't too happy with me. He says my weight loss is poor. He made me give him a number for where I would be at on my next visit, 3 months from now. I told him I thought I could get to 180 and he said that was a number he could live with and it was entirely doable. That means I have to lose 45 pounds, based on his scale, in 3 months. I hope I didn't over reach with this one. He said that if I didn't hit the number, we would be having a talk. He is a fantastic surgeon but his bedside manner could use some work. He is one of those "no excuses" type. I understand that and I realize that there are things I could be doing better, but I walked out of there feeling like I was being threatened.
He thinks the reason I haven't lost more weight is due to lack of exercise and I accept that I haven't been diligent enough in that area. The gym manager was the one that set up my exercize routine and when she found out about the RNY she would only give me 4 exercizes. I started going to water aerobics but it got so darn cold that I really wasn't up for extra time outside with wet hair. I was going in to do the 4 she gave me, but then it just didn't seem like it was worth it so I quit going completely. He told me today that there is absolutely nothing I can't do. My incision is great, no scar tissue or hernia and I'm not having any other problems. I won't be able to get to the gym until Thursday, but when I go I'm going to make them give me a full-blown workout.
So that's it for me for today. I have another DR's appointment this afternoon so I'm getting ready for that.

Naw.. I think he just takes his patients best interest to heart, and he probably gets better cooperation and results from them when he puts it to them in non nonsense terms. He doesn't want you to feel like this surgery has failed you, any more than you do.
It can be hard to be diigent in the exercise area. God knows I know this! We just have to kick our own butts and each others every now and then I guess.
Don't let this ruin your day. Let it empower you. Take an attitude of "I'll show him!"
Drink tha****er..move that bod and check in here. Maybe post a challenge for other members who need help staying accountable in the exercise arena. Make a deal to check in daily with each other.
Hang in there girl! you are gonna do this!
Big warm hugs to you!
It was great "seeing" you in chat last evening.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Thank you ladies; I appreciate your input.
Annielou,
I am limited as to what kind of exercises I can do because of vertigo; it is very difficult for me to stand more than a few minutes without becoming extremely dizzy. I would love to have a Wii, but the bottom line is that my gym membership is paid in full for life. If I ever get this mess with the vertigo taken care of(I've been off of work for almost a year now) I would definitely consider getting one. My husbands nephews brought theirs over for our Christmas get together and we all had a lot of fun with it.
Islandgirl, I'm sorry I don't know your name but I would love to have a buddy to work on a similar goal with. I will send you a private message.
Patrece,
I have lost 60 pounds since 9-30. When I went to see my PCP this afternoon he couldn't believe that my surgeon was complaining. He also told me that another of his patients who had WLS by a different surgeon told this poor woman that she was an embarrassment because she hadn't lost as much weight as he thought she should. I can't believe that someone would say that, but on the other hand, I can almost see it going in that direction with my surgeon. If I don't make the goal I won't go back. I beat myself up on a regular basis, I don't need any tongue lashings from a doctor. I walked out of there feeling like a failure.
Thanks again to all for listening to me whine.
Colleen
Whine away, we are here to be a sounding board, supporting board and a firm board for the behind if that will help. Look at all the progress you have made with the weight loss. Keep up as you can with the exercise.
Hugs, Kathy
