Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself.  I am a 38 year old single mom with two kids.  I have battled my weight for my whole life.  I finally made the decision to proceed with WLS early last year.  Although I had considered it before, I was never really that serious about it.  My initial meeting with my surgeon was in June 09.  From there I had the 6 months supervised PCP visits, nutritional class, etc to complete.  In December, I met my requirements and a pre-authorization request was submitted to my insurance carrier.  I was expecting to have surgery in February.  As the standard wait for ins approval seems to be 3-4 weeks. I guess I was pretty lucky in the fact that mine was approved in less than a week, which allowed my surgery date to be set for January 6th.  I was so excited.  Now, I am at day 5 post-op.  I am just moving into the full liquid phase assigned by my Dr.  I am so excited to be on this journey.  I know it will not always be easy but so far, so good. I feel good. I am still a little sore in my stomach but nothing that is even requiring any pain medicine at this point.

I have been reading several of the post here and already have found such great advice. I think this is a wonderful way to help support each other.

My best to everyone,
Ginger

Hi Ginger! Congrats on your surgery and on all going well for you.It is an amazing journey. It can thrill us to the highest heights and also frustrate us badly at times..lol BUT it is so worth any sacrifice to get these awesome results, that every other weight reduction attempt has failed us in.
This is a great group of people. If you need support, encouragement, advice, or even a place to vent, we are here. Welcome and I am glad to have you join us. Looking forward to getting to know you and sharing your journey with you.

Hi Ginger, max's grandma, welcome to the group.  So glad you stopped to share alittle about yourself.  congrats on making the decision to improve your health.  Ask away if you have any questions, comments, concerns, worries, joys, etc.  The members will add their thoughts and support.  Some days are more quiet around here.  Those are the days we need everyone to participate.

Hugs, Kathy
