In-Person Support Groups

Hello All!!  I know I have been MIA for quite awhile.  I've been lurking some, but not much as life has just been intruding on my Bariatric Buddy time!!  All is well though, that's the good news.

One of the many things that have been keeping me busy is that we are starting an in-person support group here in our rural community, as the nearest support group is about an hour away.  So far there are 4 of us, but I know it will grow as we start to spread the word.  I would love to hear from others about the good and bad experiences in support groups to give us some ideas on what to expect and what to do.  So, my questions....

   1. What is the most important thing to you in an in-person support group?  What do you most need to have happen or have present??

   2. What detracts from a good experience??  That is, what gets in the way of you getting what you need from an in-person support group??

   3. What was your best experience and what was your worse experience in an in-person support group?

Thank you in advance for your stories and comments!!  Each will help us with our learning curve in creating the best possible support group!!  :)

It is important to not let any one person...even the leader totally dominate the meeting. this will be a big turn off to other members. meeting should be very interactive, including all in attendance!

still planning to visit your group in april if possible.
