Food log 1st day!

today was my first day doing a food log, i never thought i could do it. I am not eating the foods on my diet plan ( have to wait until payday so i can buy them) but i am trying to make changes in the things i do eat, i know it's a work in progress, i work in the field alot, i plan to buy bars and snacks i can keep in the car but today i stopped at McDonalds-yes i know, i got a sandwich and a diet coke, i eliminated the french fries-this is a big step for me.  I had a healthy dinner, and since i have no money, i am going to sams to use my charge there to get bars and fruit.

I am not eating the way i want to but i am making changes and improvements and i am just trying to stay positive about that.

Way to go Shawn.  Make small changes each week, easier on the system and your brain.  This will make them habit in a few weeks.  You have time to rid the house of things not good for you after surgery.  Use low fat cooking methods, start including water as a beverage.  Try to get in a little exercise every day.  A lot of what we need to happen after surgery happens in our head.  And they are not doing surgery on your (or my) brain.  If you slip up, don't beat yourself up.  Just start fresh after the slip up, immediately, not tomorrow or next week.  We are all human and have had these bad habits for years.

Come back daily and share your success or struggle, whatever the day brings.  Here to help you along the way.  Hugs, Kathy

ps. did you know that there is a place right here on OH to help with your food log?  Look on your home page, under health tracker.  Also spots to document your weight and measurements, exercise.  Nice to be able to look back and see the progress from time to time.  Sometimes when the scale does not  move, you will notice changes in the tape measurements as your body adjusts.  edited to add the ps.

Shawn,
Good for you taking the time to initiate your food log. This can be a big step in taking control of your intake, as so often we don't realize how far off track we can be until we see it in front of us. Also, it can help us identfy what has changed in our eating habits that may be contributing to a lack of loss, gain, etc. It is a great accountability tool. Sooo good for you girl!

Ya know.. McD's has salads..lol although unless you get one with some meat it it, you won't find it very filling. Sometimes when I am on the go and get really hungry I will get one. tides me over for a little bit.

You are taking wonderful positive steps, and I am proud of you! Keep up the good work! Definately do stay positive about it.. and continue to give yourself credit for every posiive step, even the little ones..you deserve it!
Hugs!

i'm really rpoud of myself today, i am not starving myslf but i cut back today, ate moderated amounts and no junk.  Many people do not understand how that is an accomplishment but i know here everyone would understand how much of a big deal this is.

It is a Great Day when we make healthy changes in our life. Eating is the hardest thing to change. It is choices that can be hard. On thing I have done is I know I have a Wendy's close to work and a MC Donald's so what I did is check there web sites and compared cal. protein and carb to make a list of where and what I can have. it has helped and also a big surprise what I thought was good might not be.
