Good evening everybody!

I have been up since 4:30AM and am going to bed early tonight.  I went on a 3 day cleaning rampage, which my house desperately needed, and went shopping with my hubby today to buy some things for our home.  New kitchen rugs, new placemats for the dining room table, new lamp shades for the lamps in the living room.  I also indulged in my favorite thing to do: shopping for cosmetics.  I have a really bad make-up "thing!"

I did well with food today, very low carb.  Had a shake this morning but won't be having one tonight because I'm still full from dinner which was left over roast and gravy.  I made the roast last night and didn't feel all that great after I ate.  It didn't occur to me until later that the last time I had a few bites of white potato, I got sick.  That is something I have to stay away from.  I eat very little bread so that's a good thing too.

Thanks to Patrece for mentioning the blog with the article about pop.  I read it as I sat here drinking a Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi.  I don't drink a lot of pop but was told only that colas were taboo because they leach the calcium from our bones.  I don't know if that's accurate or not.  There seems to be many schools of thought on just about every aspect of bariatric surgery and diet.

Well I'm off to bed!  I hope you all have a great evening!

Colleen, up kind of early.  Good to get to bed early tonight.  I am confused as to what time of the day to sleep, due to multiple shifts this week.  I was home on call during the night shift last night.  The sleep was oh so welcome.  Just got back from supper out with Dennis, I have enough in my take home box for 2 more meals.  Good food, just waaaaaaay to large portions.  Finished off with a sugar free popsicle here at home.  Kept my carbs to a minimum today as well.  Keep up the good work yourself.

Got both of the dogs groomed this afternoon.  Gretta is prancing around showing off her face trim.  Headed to bed now myself.  The alarm clock will ring at 10pm so I can get ready for work.  Hugs, Kathy

Hey Collen. Great to see you checking in agian today. I too have heard soda is damaging to bones. But another issue for us bariatric patients, is that we are never ever supposed to drink carbonated beverages, as it can cause our pouches to distend and eventually stretch, and also, those beverages do contribute to cravings which can result in future regain.  You may want to reconsider drinking them, of any kind. I am suprised your bariatric surgeon or nutritionist did not tell you about this.

The problem with bariatrics is that there are no "standards" set yet as far as a lot of the issues post-op. There are standards for the surgery itsself, but the post -op..heck even the pre-op diet and rules can vary so widely.

This is where I decided to do lots of homework, then included everything that made good sense to me in my personal rule book, in addition to what my surgeon advised.  (Only the healthier and positive things). I did not use this as a way to excuese myself from any of the rules.

I have been hunting and searching for a class in bariatric nutrition. I found some, but not a class that is actually a full blown nutrition course for bariatrics. This must be because they don't have a set standard here.. Maybe we are going to have to lobby for an induistry standard in the bariatric diet area! lol.

Keep up the good work Colleen! Glad the blog was beneficial to you!
