Odd off the wall question ...

Home from a wonderful vacation in Vegas where the weather was amazingly warm and sunny, I cried like a baby when the airplane left the airport yesterday morning, I hated the idea of coming home to the cold and snow. BOOOOOO .. i don't not like the cold and snow. lol

4 days and counting until surgery

** WARNING POSSIBLE TMI **

Ladies,

I have an off the wall, odd question to ask, sorry if this is TMI ... will they still do weight loss surgery during your menstrual cycle?

Mine is now 2 days late, No I'm not pregnant, yes i know for sure I'm not, but I was hoping to have it by now and that it will be past before the surgery. but at this point it will still be in town. I don't think it will be a problem but I just want to ask. I called my surgeons office today but they did not call me back, I will call tomorrow morning and keep calling until I talk to someone.  i don't want the date changed I'm worried about it.

Just wondering if any of you had to reschedule or anything due to the wonderful menstrual cycle.

this is not tmi, it is a practical question about life's cycles and how they effect us. i don't know the answer, but i would hazard the quess that it wouldn't matter.  keep trying to reach your doc so you will feel better. good luck to you. vick

I was on mine the day of surgery and they had no problem with it just let the nurses know esp if you forget to pack pads. I didn;t use my tampons the angle wouldn't work after surgery. I know bad visual lol. You should have no problems with it and surgery. Good luck and I will save you a seat on the losers bench!!!!

I was gonna say the same.. it shouldn't interfere at all with surgery, other than the inconvenience to YOU of dealing with it at that time. What DID happen with me, was 3 days after my RNY I started, and wasn't near due to.. This can happen with many of us.
You are gonna be fine! Keeping you in my heart and prayers! congrats!
P.S. I hear ya on the cold weather! It is supposed to get down to -10 here tonight... already 7 degrees.

Perfectly normal question about perfectly normal, but sometimes annoying facts of life.  Your period will not affect your surgery.  Just a small inconvenience.  Bring pads and a couple pair of panties along, just in case.  They will reschedule if you are physically ill.  Take care in the meantime.  Anesthesia throws off a gals schedule, can bring on another period.  Lucky us.  Hugs, Kathy

Yup they will....just let the nurses know...they do ask that you not use tampons and use pads and the nurses will help you with everything. I had mine and it all went fine. Not a TMI question at all....good luck :)

Ok, I feel better, 1 from hearing from all of you who stated they went through they same thing, I guess I felt it was TMI cause I am shy to talk about that kind of stuff. And 2 the doctors office called today to tell me that they got my insurance approval Monday and that all was in order, they even moved my surgery arrival time from 9am to 8am .. looking at about a 9am surgery :-) I'm scared out of my mind (common from what i hear) but I am more excited that my time is finally here! woo hoo!!! While they were on the phone with me giving me all my information, I asked my question, she says I am fine nothing to worry about, they will see Monday morning friend and all.

Tomorrow morning starts my 48 hours of clear liquid, I am pretty much stocked on frozen fruit bars, chicken broth, beef broth, they said I can have tea, so i got some Decaf Diet Tea, and lots of water. :-) I will fight my way through the weekend, my hubby is 100% by my side so he will help me stay on track. Tonight he is making me a wonderful healthy dinner. Roast chicken, green bean casserole, stuffing and mashed potatoes ... MMMMMMMM... one to remember for a while.

Well off to eat dinner then headed to a friends house for wii game night.
