I am taking One a day maximum. Is this okay or should I be taking something different? I wasnt sure if there is a certain mulivitamin supplement that a RNYer needs. I am so close to surgery and getting nervous now! Any other suggestions of things I will need will be appreciated!! Thanks everyone!!

Cong. on having your surgrey.  I take the Bariatric Advantage suppoements,  I take B-12,  complete multi formular, calcium citrate.  I chose Bariatric advantage because that a made for the RNY surgreies.   The pouch can easy absorb them.   I invest in them because it gives me what i need.  you can order them online, auto delivery.   You get points toward you purchases.   Hope this will help you some,  you can read all about it at www.bariatricadvantage.com.   Take care.

i take building blocks, multi, calcium citrate, iron.  i also take a vitamin c with my iron for easier absorbtion.  i do the chewables.  your doc should tell you what you need to take. be sure and take them as you should because your very life can depend on it.  not to scare you, but it is the truth.  good luck on your upcoming surgery. vick

I too take building bloacks. I take all of the ones vick mentioned, plus I take a monthly b-12 injection.
Be sure you never take you iron within 2 hours of your calcium citrate. They will bind, and you get little to no absorption of either.
When i first had RNY we were told that a good childrens chewable would be ok to just double the dose. But those do not cover the nutritional needs we have and are not formulated for the enhanced absoption. Building Blocks to me taste better than any others I have tried, and are more affordable, but a very good quality bariatric vitamin. You can request a free sample at bbvitamins.com
Remember too that the over the counter vitamins often have a coating, and after RNY you will not have the stomach acids to break that down.

Congrats to you on your upcoming surgery.

CC, I take centrum chewable, one tablet morning and evening.  Calcium citrate chewables as directed by my surgeon.  There are several options available, your MD will have their recommendations.  Your nutrition consult will also discuss vitamins.  Try several, find what you can tolerate for taste, texture and affordability.
