Ok.. The New Year is here and we are rolling! Are we all focused on what we are striving to acomplish with the help and support of each other here? I am. Not so sure I am doing so toooo cheerfully today, but am still focused on it.

My hubby is supposed to be quitting smoking as well. Of course first thing, he just wasn't up to it. So NOW he starts trying to think of ways to distract himself so he can quit. His plan is trying mid- January while i m out of town.. OH BOYYYYYYYYYY... Will be very helpful to my efforts, let me tell you! And kind him, offering me a "puff' of his smoke. The last time i was quitting and went 3 days without a smoke, he was the one who sabotaged my efforts and I can see he will be doing so again. I told him that he knew 3 or 4 weeks ago that this was the day and he should have had his "plans" already thought of and ready to put in place.

Seems sometimes those in my life aren't happy unless they are making things as difficult as possible for me!

Bahhh humbug

Ps as I sit here typing complaining about my hubby's lack of action on this today.. he is jofully rubbing my back and shoulders. AND he is perfectly aware of everything i just typed about him... But he knows it is true!

Hey Patrece,   First I need to say I am soooooo proud of your new years goal of  giving up smoking.   Believe me I know how hard it is, been there and done that.   It took me two times around to finally kick them.   A very hard thing to do after smoking for 40 years.   I have been in your shoes too with trying to quit with others smoking around me.   Not a easy task but I am sure you can do it.  I support you all the way girl, if you ever need to blow off steam let me have it.   I have thought so much about your challenge to us all and the only thing i can come up with is to continue on with my weight loss journey as i have for the past 7 months and to keep up my exercise ritual as I know I am much better for it physically and thats what I want for myself and my family.   Hugs............Anna

Thanks so much Anna. I am doing extremely well for me. It has not been a perfect day in my attempt to quit, but it is now almost 3 pm, and I have had one cigarette today, and smoked it over the couse of 3 light ups. By now I would have had at least 1/2 pack if not more in. I am NOT giving up. I am very proud of the progress today! And will continue to fight this awful addiction! I WILL win!

You are doing awesome my friend! Keep up your good work and you will be fine! You deal with all of this in a very responsible and successful way. You are a good example for us all!

First of all Paul, cut out offering my friend Patrece a "puff" you know better than that.  Please share my repromand with Paul, Patrece.  I know that you are going to tame this monster of a habit.  You time out of town will help.

I am here for venting and supporting purposes.

I have thought long and hard at this challenge and know that I need help taming the carb issue at times.  Those carbs do beg from time to time.  I open the fridge door and the things my hubby loves and craves are sitting there.  I limit the purchases to things that he loves and I can leave alone.  I have been going through sugar free popsicles like crazy lately.  They do fix the crave for sweet and chewing.  Starting to enjoy an occassional protein shake and amazed at how filling they are.  I flavored greek yogurt with lemonade crystal light and a packet of splenda during work last night and wow, love the combination, threw in a few soy nuts for crunch.  Hit the spot.  So I can use the group support to leave the junk carbs alone.  What do you think bariatric buddies, can we get by without them?  I am trying, one day at a time.  Go buddies.  Hugs, Kathy

I will absolutely pass on your reprimand. He told me her offered me a puff to keep me from lighting one. I told him i wasn't going to light one, so don't offer! lol.

I am here to support you in your fight against the carbs! I too can struggle with temptation there as well, but am usually able to beat em out. Not always but usually. When I am craving something sweet, I go for the sweet fruits, yes they have sugar in them, but it is a naturally occurring sugar and not refined junk. Maybe having some whole grain fat free or low fat crackers would help you n this area. have 2 or 3 with a chunk of 2% cheddar on em.
You can do this! We can all meet and beat our challenges. We just have to stick together and help each other through the hard times!
Thanks for your love and support!

Patrece....good luck with quitting smoking...not easy but doable.  Just remember all the good you have done for yourself...don't ruin your healthy with nasty tobacco.  I smoked as well.  Not as much and not as long but when the chest pains started I said "No More".

My challenge for the New year is to follow the rules for wls.
taking my vitamins, getting enough protein and fluids, exercisng at least 3 times a week

I am very noncompliant with taking my vitamins...I don't know why but I know that it is bad...
So tomorrow I start doing what I am supposed to.
Thanks

Keep the faith

Yeayyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! Good for you! Glad to hear you are going to focus on vitamin supplementation compliance. Your good health depends on it!

Many people get to feeling kind of overwhelmed and lost when trying to stick with their vitamin regimin. I take my multi's and calcium in the am. My iron mid day and my multi's and calcium again later in the PM. I take a b-12 injection once a month. This works well for me.
Good luck and know i am here to support encourage or even give you a nice gentle kick in the pants if thats what ya want..lol
Hugs!
