New Years Challenge! Anyone game????

Great idea, Patrece!

I quit smoking "cold turkey" on September 18, 2002.  I cannot explain how, but I totally knew it was time and that I was ready.  Most of my family smoked and continued to smoke around me.  I had moments of anxiety when I was just sure I was going to lose it if I didn't smoke!  In time, I had absolutely no desire to smoke.  And, in time, my husband, my mom, my step-dad, and my sister quit smoking too!

Unfortunately, I replaced the smoking with more intense overeating and gained well over 120 lbs between then and my RNY surgery.  I strongly suggest that you find a HEALTHY outlet for those times when you need to get your mind off of smoking.  And, as with having RNY surgery, it is SO important to surround yourself with positive people.

My top priority for 2010 is to MOVE at least 3 times a week.  Whether it be strength training at the gym, walking on the treadmill at home, using my Wii Fit, or walking my dog around our neighborhood - it doesn't matter, as long as I am physically active at least 3 times a week.  I have lost a great deal of weight without an exercise regimen, but I know how important it is for me to make exercise part of my lifestyle.  It needs to become a "no brainer" for me to be able to achieve and maintain my long-term goals.

So, there is my mission!  If there is anything that I can do to help support you or any of my other buddies on their mission, I'm there!  We can do it!

Patrece,
I'll be rooting for you 100%. We all know you can do this, you are an extremely strong person. Take all that knowledge you are gaining in your training and put it to good use. Your upcoming surgery is the perfect motivation!

My mission for the upcoming year is to follow the rules! Do as my doctor advises, eat what I'm supposed to, get in my protein and vitamins, and especially the rules about not drinking 30 mintues before/after or during meals, and NO carbonated drinks ever. I've seen over and over again on so many sites how breaking those 2 rules greatly contributes to weight re-gain. Not everyone who breaks them gains weight. but almost all who DO gain are breaking those rules. That's enough for me to know that I do NOT want to go there. Following those rules is a small price to pay for the results we get. On the other hand, I realize that it's not easy for lots of people and may not be for me. But I have given up my beloved diet coke and am doing just fine. I'm practicing on the not drinking with meals and it's getting a little easier. We CAN reach our goals and with each others help, we can make it through the hard moments when we might otherwise give up on our own!  GO BUDDIES!!!!
