News from Pre Op testing

All was going well this morning, until the swallow test. I kept gasping and gagging during it and felt like I was going to be sick all over the machines.

I made it through, and the radiologist told me he noted a few things. He said I have a hiatal hernia (I knew this part) and really bad reflux. He also noted I aspirate a lot and that why I was coughing. He said it will not impact my surgery, but that its needed info.

I am clueless as to what this means for post op recovery, and a little scared to be honest. I know this is all apart of the journey but now I have a week to sit and worry about what this means for me. Please let the next 7 days fly by

Your MD will clear it all up for you.  Agreeing that the next 7 days fly by.  In the mean time, relax as best you can.  Know that you are in the process of making life changing/improving decisions for the best you.  So sorry that you were so miserable during the test.  Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers this week and next.  Hugs, Kathy

Hey there lady! Hang in there. The great news is that it will NOT impact your surgery, and a couple of those things may well be resolved during and after surgery. You doc may fix the hernia while in there, depending on how bad it is or isn't and his / her preference. The reflux hopefully will improve post-op as you will have much less acid available in your body due to the re-routing of things. The aspiration, there are different approaches to working with. You surgeon / doc I am sure will discuss all of this with you.  Don't let it stress you too much. Stay positive and stay distracted with other things until your doc visit.
The 7 days will fly by..
