Home for Christmas :-)

Just wanted to post that I made it home for Christmas morning to share the holiday with my son as I had hoped for. My surgery on the 23rd went well but was unexpectedly long (5.5 hrs) due to a large amount of scar tissue around my Realize band -which they removed, thank God!!!

I am recovering well, most of my pain is localized in the area where they had to remove my port that was clamped to my abdominal muscle on my right side. I took an extra day off from work but plan to go back tomorrow. I have been grocery shopping and supply shopping at various places but other than needing a nap afterward I was fine. My dr. has me on a pureed diet which I began on day 3 post-op without issue. I am looking forward to chewing after this phase is over, though I am not particularly hungry- which is a very nice feeling

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Chris!!! So good to hear from you! I am thrilled to hear you made it home to be with your son on Christmas! How awesome! Take it easy with going back to work, don't over do yourself. You don't want hernias or to get overly fatigued or sore.
Glad all is going smoothly for you!
Quick question... I see your ticker says down 34 (I think it is) lbs. Is that from just since surgery or did you lose some prior to surgery?
You are doing great! CONGRATS to you and welcome back to the losers bench!

Hi there. This is the first I have heard about a possibility of hernias. How would one get those after surgery and what would the warning signs be that you might have a problem?

You're right, that loss on my ticker is not all after surgery. It's been 6 days from surgery and I've lost about 4 lbs. The rest was pre-op loss from liquid diet combined with about a 10 lb loss from the lapband installed about 10 years ago!

Typically hernias are mostly a problem for those who had an open procedure, not a laproscopic. but we all can get one if we strain or lift too much or really over do things. Just be sure you follow the lifting restrictions put in place by your doc. (I know those big legal files can weigh a TON!) So no lifting those big files yet!  : )

Congrats Chris, gladly sliding my hinder over on this losing bench to make room for you.  Take it easy as you go back to work.  Isn't it great to not be hungry?

Keeping you and your son in my thoughts and prayers this week.  Post as you have the energy to do so.

Hugs, Kathy

It sure is great not to be hungry but strange as well. Especially considering that just about all day long I am either drinking or eating something. I think more about food now than I ever have. At least it is in a good way, I am thinking about getting proper nutrition rather than comfort
