I'm at the same place you are re WLS Sunshine, only my surgery is coming sooner (I hope). I am in the process of doing my pre-op medical exams and getting insurance approval, plus I too am trying to quit smoking, which right now seems impossible. As luck would have it, my surgeon is a smoker too, so he only advised me to reduce the amount I smoke, not quit. He also prescribed for me inhaled meds, something you dilute in juice and is making me blow up balloons for the next 15 days so I can prepare my lungs for the anesthetic.
Good luck to both of us and Happy Holidays!

Amalia.. Congrats to you as well! Let us know when you get your date! Glad he is having you get your lungs working better. Kep in mind the less you smoke the better. smoking slows the healing process.

I smoked before surgery. Quit, then ended up back at it. I am now psyching myself up to quit again.. this time for GOOD! I need to quit because I have my TT coming up in early Feb and do not want to impair my healing or risk infection due to prolonged healing time.. and besides, I am soo tired of smoking. Need to quit to enjoy life in my new healthier body, even longer!

Amelia, you too will succeed in stopping the smokes.  Do what is needed for your health.  The balloon blowing sounds like good exercise for the lungs.  Cool idea.  I am here for your support, just come back and let us know what is on your mind. Nice to see everyone posting here at the bariatric buddy group.  Send your friends this way for support as well.  Hugs, Kathy
