My Introduction
To find out more about my weight loss journey, visit my profile but in a nutshell I'm an almost-48, mother of one fantastic firefighter, wife to the love of my life for almost 25 years, draftsman/designer for an agricultural machine manufacturer. My reasons for wanting gastric bypass are 99% health related as I've never felt that my size dictates my relationships with other people -- if people don't like me based solely on what they see, that's THEIR problem. I do enjoy this website as it answers a lot of questions you can't find in the books.
How blessed you are to have the love of your life! And you must be very proud of your firefighter! (son?)
I am 43. Mom of 2 young adults. Grammy of 2, with another on the way Yippee! Love those grandbabies! I am married. 11 years almost. I had my rny July 21st 2008. Have 11 pounds to hit my personal goal. 7 lbs to be at a normal BMI. Surgeon keeps telling me to stop losing weight now, but I convinced him that I at least need to see myself at a normal BMI.. he said OK but then stop...lol. I do see myself as much smaller than I was, but not as so small I need to quit losing. Even my MIL tells me "you have lost enough!" But then she never knew me when I was thin, before I became obese. Back then I was around 135. I am 161 now, and think 150 would be awesome. I have my Tummy tuck and another procedure scheduled for 2/8/2010. Hoping to get closer to 150 by then, but the loss is very slow now. Sometimes our bodies decide where they are happy and won't budge from there. Hoping mine lets me see a normal BMI at least, however, once I get the extra skin off, I am sure i will. Hoping to lose about 8 to 10 lbs with that..but hard to say.
Good luck on your journey and hope to see you in our Monday evening chats! They are at 7 pm eastern. (adjust time for your time zone) You enter the chat via the chat link here in our group above the leader pics. If you have trouble, you may need to do a free java upgrade.
Again.. welcome!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Looking forward to getting to know you better as we progress down the losing side of surgery. I had my RNY 15 weeks ago, seems like just yesterday at times. Loving the results and the increased ability to do things without discomfort. Take care, Kathy

I love the demolition the best. I discovered directions for most everything can be found on the internet. My husband gives me free reign and comes to help if I need something. I take pottery classes with the best group of handy, independent women also. I think the 5 of us could start our own contracting company if necessary.
I'm just in wait mode for the surgery right now. Hubby's insurance changes over on January 1 so I'm tying up loose ends and getting ready to start fresh next year!
Lelia.
