Ok, since I have started the liquid diet I am having major issues with sleeping. That being said I have gotten off of caffeine for this diet. I am having head aches and very restless at night and it is driving me crazy. On top of that it cause me to start drinking coffee again. Now that doesn't sound like a problem but it is. I am Mormon and it is in our doctrines that we can not drink tea or coffee due to the adverse affects they have on the body. As you can see from my current situation they do have ill effects. Anyhow, I am sitting here drinking the worst cup of coffee in the world out of desperation. I don't have a coffee maker anymore and I literally had some coffee I forgot to throw away and I fashioned a teabag into a coffee ground bag and it is just gross. This better make me feel better or I am going to kick my own butt.

It is hard..oh so hard... I know. Its just like you told Darlene tho, in her post. An sometimes we even have to take it one moment at a time.
Have you sonsidered trying some tylenol PM, to help you get through the next few nights? It may help, but can't promise. When I was preparing for wls, the first 3 days were the worst as far as my caffienne withdrawl. I was such a pepsi holic. Know that it will ease up for you.
The coffee filter sounds creative.. but not too appealing, with your description of how gross it is.. lol. Good luck. hang in there. It will get easier.

Now I do have a question...You said " can not drink tea or coffee due to the adverse affects they have on the body. As you can see from my current situation they do have ill effects." So does this mean that coffee and tea contributes to weight gain? Or?? Just curious. I DO still have to have my coffee daily, so just curious. I didn't drink it at first after wls, but gradually got back to drinking it. thanks for any info you can share on this.

Keep your chin up. Congrats on the 6 lbs down that you mentioned in your reply to Darlene!
Hugs!

To be quiet honest I don't know all the adverse affects, but I know they have a high amount of, I believe it is called Tannic Acid and that is hard on the body. That is the worst part, not the caffeine. In the Doctrine and Covenants it is not about caffeine but about the acid. Its not weight gain, but hard on the gastrintestinal tract. Ever notice sometimes that Coffee can have a laxative effect. Not on all people but on some.

Mori, you can do this girl.  Distraction, distraction, distraction.  Find other things to occupy your hands and mind.  You will make it through this.  Withdrawal only takes a few days, get in extra water to flush the caffeine from your system.  Flavor it with crystal light if you need to.

I agree with Patrece, try some Tylenol pm or just benadryl (that is the pm part of Tylenol pm)  Take it about 30 minutes before trying to sleep at night.

Sunday night I ended up taking 3 benadryl's and nothing. I am going to talk to my doctor next week about ambien. I have taken it before and it helps put me back on track. I am hoping it will work.

Hang in there....withdrawl from anything can be difficult.  Find something to praise yourse;f each day for doing a good job during the withdrawl process.

Keep the faith
