Bariatric Buddy
Introductions
Hello BB's,
My name is Lisa and I had surgery on 1/5/09. I am currently about 5lbs from my surgeons goal and about 10+ lbs from my personal goal. I have been stuck at the Plateau for many months even though I have lost some inches I have played with the same 3-4 lbs. I am tired of playing with them. It's time for them to leave my body forever.
So I am here for support and guidance as well as friendships....
HI VICKI...
God Bless
Lisa
Wow! Congrats! What an inspiration you are.

Hi Lisa, so glad to see your post. Congrats on the successful loss. I hope to be in your footsteps in a few months. Just over halfway with my planned loss. 98 # gone(in the last 10 months), 82ish to go. I am going between a couple pounds each way from day to day, then every so often, wheeee, lose a few and start the small fluctuations again for a few days.
Looking to you for wisdom along the way. My surgery was 15 weeks ago. Seems like just yesterday when I think of it that way. Taking things one day at a time. Hugs, Kathy

Hello and welcome lisa! You are doing awesome! Congrats on how far you have come.
I had my surgery 1 year and 4+ months ago and am down 109 lns. 11 more for me to get to goal, 7 more to get to a normal BMI. I too struggle with what you are struggling with. The best way to get that scale going again is to really shake things up. Sometime just increasing your protein by adding one shake a day can help rev the loss. Or if you have a regular exercise regimine, try changing it around.. confuse that body just a bit. Also increasing water intake can help too, as your body will let go of stored water when more is avaialable to it each day.
I will go sometimes 3 to 4 weeks and not budge a bit.. then will lose 2 or 3 lbs, then it cycles all over again. Problem is the closer we are to a normal weight, theharder it is to get that last little bit off.
Some other ideas for you to consider: Assess your barb intake. Sugars, breads, potato, rice, flour based stuff, etc. See if there is anywhere you can trim back some of the carbs. When I crave something sweet, I go with fruit. It satisfies me and I believe the natural sugars in the fruit are much better for me than any other kind of carb / sugar. Assess how much you are taking in per meal. You are just about a year out, so it should be about 1 cup of food per meal. If you are eating 3 meals a day, try braking it up and having 4 or 5 smaller meals per day, this signals your body to feel comfortable that food is going to be plentiful, so it is more willing to let go of any fat stores it may be stubbornly holding onto.
Again, just suggestions on things to consider. ***DISCLAIMER*** I am not a doctor, so this is not to be taken as medical advice. Just ideas for you to consider ; )
Again welcome! I look forward to traveling by your side on this awesome and sometimes frustrating journey we are on!
