Hi Everyone...

Just wanted to give you an update of my sister Kristy. She has her ups and downs. Yesterday she felt as if she needed to go to the ER... she is not getting alot of answers from her doctors office. She still can't keep anything down but yogart and she is having alot of pain in her shoulders. She is mentally and physically having a rough time. I have read over many posts and I'm thinking that alot of people go through what Kristy is going through.

Here is my question...

When did everyone start feeling better after surgery. Kristy feels very weak, when does this feeling go away?

Thanks everyone for the friendship you have extended to Kristy. Kristy really has appreciated everyone that has contacted her. If you would like to contact her here is her screen name: Makrde

Sounds like she should soon be over the worst of things.  I was getting to feeling better by a couple weeks out from surgery.  The shoulder discomfort is probably from residual trapped gas under her diaphragm.  For some reason, pain below the diaphragm radiates to the shoulders.  Best treatment for the gas pains if walking.  The weakness will improve when she is able to get in her 64 ounces of fluid and daily protein.  Keep encouraging her to try her best.  Get in the vitamin supplements as able too.

Rooting for you Kristy.  Hugs, Kathy

hey sherry.. Kathy said it all.  I agree with all she said as to the shoulder pain and weakness. She really must focus harder on getting in her protein and this will help tremendously. Also if she is not getting in her fluids, she may become dehydrated.

The nausea well, it happens with some. My daughter had this trouble. The doc should be able to prescribe her anti-nausea meds to help her until this passes. Also as odd as it sounds, the juice from a dill pickle helps eleviate nausea. Tell her to try sucking on a dill pickle. I know it sounds odd, but works for many!

She should be feeling progressively better very soon. she just had a major surgery, and needs to recover. The surgery is traumatic on our bodies, and healing is the thing that will help her feel better along with adequate protein and water and rest.

Hugs!

i had a very hard time for about 2 months, with throwing up and the runs.  then it was about 6 months before i felt up to snuff.  tell her to just hang in there and to get on the boards so she can share how she feels.  i will try and look her up and contact her. vick
