I'm just wondering...What does weight loss and wls REALLY mean to you?

We all have our own set of reasons for wanting to drop the weight, have weight loss surgery, and to be successful at it. BUT lets take a moment and really share "what does this all truly mean to you?"

To me, it means I don't feel like crawling into a corner and hiding when I am in public, because I am embarrassed of my weight. It means I can actually RUN and chase my grandbabies! I can bend over and tie my shoes and breathe at the same time. It means I no longer struggle with the high blood pressure and pitting edema in my lower legs. It means I will likely live much longer and with a much higher quality of life. It means I will look and feel better. It means my self esteem is improving all of the time. It means I can experience things in life I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. It means I am determined and successful and strong. It means I am important enough to take better care of myself for the rest of my days, however long that may be. It means I can help others on this journey because I am here too.. I have experienced it too, I have struggled too. I will continue to face challenges, but I know I can overcome them!

Next????  Please share!

Patrece

here is the last line from my story that i have posted on my page
take a moment to read the whole item
but this is what it comes down to
that I need to get serious was when I was at the orthopedic doctor with my knee pain he said that I was Severely Morbidly Obesethat I needed to have surgery but would not perform it until I weighed 350 or less. He said that my right knee is so bad that I could step wrong on it and blow it out and have to have emergency surgery on it. He told me that my knee cap should be about the size of an So that is why I am here and have decided to have weight loss surgery, to improve my physical health

Wow!  What a great question!  It gets to the heart of the matter, doesn't it??  Having this surgery and losing the weight means EVERYTHING to me.  It means....

1. finally taking control of my health and not letting food control me.
2. attacking the one thing in my life where I feel I am an utter failure.
3. committing to living a longer life with my husband.
4. saying to the Universe that I matter and that I know I have worth.
5. entering a phase in my life where I am letting go of childish habits that no longer serve me and developing new ones that do.

It means EVERYTHING!!!

Wonderful question.  Falls right into the "things I am thankful for" category.

1. Freedom from the limits of my obese body - No shortness of breath, bending over to tie my shoes, crossing my legs, limiting the long term damage to my body from diabetes, longer and healthier life, stopping the damage from arthritis in their tracks.  Stopping inherited potential health problems before they become real problems.

2. Improved self esteem - I can take care of my needs and not feed my emotions, understanding that I am harming myself by continuing the bad lifestyle I was living, living longer to love more, I am a strong woman, capable of many things, needing to help others as I help myself.

3. Seeing more of the world than the "me" corner I was stuck in - sharing my joy of living with others, making use of my creative outlets and sharing my talents with the world.

4. Projecting my positive outlook onto those that surround me - hoping to do my best to improve things for others without harming myself.

5.  And most importantly - life, wonderful life.  I'm sure there are at least 1000 plus more reasons, these are the biggies.  Thanks for asking.

It means that there won't be the immediate judgements about my character when someone meets me. It means being able to live longer and spend time with my children and grandchildren. It means less pain.  It means that diabetes and hypertention will have a harder time killing or disabling me. It means that there might be a chance for romance for me. It means that shame won't be such a big part of me. It means that I can go for long walks in the woods.

all the medical stuff is excellent.  I will put this caveat forward, Never under estimate the power of love.  I have been alone, when I finally became okay with being single, guess who showed up?  CUPID shot me with his arrow.

Isn't it great, we finally become ok with ourselves, love ourselves and the door opens for the cupid love.  Glad you found yours.
