i am still wearing my wound vac.  they hope i will be through with it by christmas.  i am growing skin, so that is good. there is a lady who comes and helps my  mom and dad now.  i still go over on the weekends, her days off. i fix lunch, clean the house a little, mainly the kitchen. check dads bandages on his heels.  i am usually there for about 3 hours.  then during the week, i do their shopping and take them to the doc.  i am usually over at their house 4-6 days a week, but for shorter durations than i used to be.  dad is up to about 97 pounds now, up from 84.  he is making progress, but there is still a long way to go.  i haven't been making my aa meetings as much as i should, i have been to 2 in about the last 3 months.  not good.  i am trying to rest as much as i can, until this wound heals, but i have to spread myself so thin, it is hard to do.  it is a lot better than it was though.  i am now stuggling with depression and isolating.  that is why i haven't been on the board much.  i also have been playing catch up on  my doctor's appointments, i cancelled a lot of them when dad got so sick. after i go to my dentist, i while be caught up, i think.  bear with me folks.  for those of you who don't know me, you are missing a lot. lol lol lol   i will try to hang around more and be of more encouragement to you newbies and oldies and also to let you encourage me.  i am down to 134 now and wear a size 6.  my boobs have melted into the nether region.  i almost trip over them.  sometimes i swing them around and knock out unsuspecting people with the little round ball at the end. lol lol lol  luck to all of you.  vick

Welcome back Vick, I miss you tales of the tube sock breasts.  Good to hear that your dad accepted help.  Please be the best you can for yourself.

Here for supporting you too, just come on over, come out, whatever you want to call it.  Isolating is not good for the mental outlook.  Please get to a metting here and there.  Wow, you lost all the excess weight.  Now focus on healing, follow the MD orders as you can.  Missed you, come back often.
Anything we can do to help with the depression?  I could come up with something, or do my best to try.

Love and Hugs, Kathy

Swinging them around, knocking out unsuspecting people, tube sock breasts ...

You absolutely need to set aside time for yourself each day, Vickie!!!

I know now that my inability to say NO and focus on taking care of myself contributed greatly to my obesity.  I viewed taking time for myself as selfish and, lo and behold, I took care of everyone else and ended up 346 lbs, depressed, close to immobile, and utterly hopeless.  Making the decision to have my RNY and to adapt a healthy - physical and emotional - lifestyle was the best thing I have every done for my family and for myself!

Make the time, take the time ... even if it's just 10 minutes to read a good book or walk around the block or to just talk positively to yourself.

I will pray that God will give you the strength and stamina to continue healing - inside and out.

Take care!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
