Bariatric Buddy
Happy Friday to all
Hi everybody!
It's very early AM here in Michigan. I woke up out of a sound sleep at midnight and was wide awake so here I am. Harley T. Cat is poking me in the arm (he wants attention LOL!), the coffee pot is on and I'm taking a break from Christmas decorating.
I've been MIA the last few days, working on the basement and putting up Christmas decorations, along with the usual doctor appointments for my mom (who lives with us) and me. Most of the Christmas shopping is done; just a few more things to buy.
I am looking forward to the ornament exchange. I started making a cross-stitch ornament but I won't get it done in time; it was a little more involved than I thought. I'll have plenty of time to make one for next year.
As part of my Christmas, my husband is paying for me to attend a basic sewing class and a beginner's quilting class. I should explain that I do have basic sewing skills, but could really use some professional help! LOL! I used to manage the fabric and crafts department at 2 different Walmart stores. I'm a "jack of all trades, master of none" in the craft world. I have been on a medical leave since last February and it doesn't look like they can fix what is wrong. I am going to try my hand at working the craft shows.
As for my life in the bariatric world, things are going a little slower than I would like but I did lose another pound. The bag of clothes with items that are too big is getting a little fuller and I have noticed an increase in my energy level the last few days. On the downside, I have started losing a little hair.
I am also moving the scale to the basement. I'm still weighing everyday and it's time to let it go. I won't weigh again until my doctor's appointment on the 15th. Those first couple of weeks were great, losing a pound or two a day, but I knew that wouldn't last forever and now it's time to deal with reality and continue to work on establishing new eating patterns.
I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning Colleen, I had written a response, accidentally hit cancel and know that I will have different things to say, same things different sentence structure. That happens when I think I am done and then lose my thoughts.
Poor sleep tonight for me too, I was so exhausted after work yesterday that I dozed on the sofa before supper, napped next to Dennis as he slept before his night shift. Then awake and up and at em during the night tonight. So I got up, read some posts. Now decorating the Christmas tree with ornaments that I made a few years ago. I too am a jack of many crafts, pro of none. Currently I prefer to work with fabrics and am making quilt tops for mission. Also making some doll clothes for my nieces for the holidays and a few sweatshirts for myself.
I find that a snugly sweatshirt feels good this winter. I used to sweat over nothing, then I huffed and puffed with activity too. Now I find myself chilling easily. Long sleeves have become my winter attire.
Glad to hear that you are having increased energy. The hair thing will resolve in a few months. Just starting to notice a little hair loss myself. It will grow back soon.
Harley will keep you busy, I know that Oscar and Gretta do for me. Watching them play and romp is often better than the options on the boob tube. They have been having a great time in the newly fallen snow. Making all kinds of doggie tracks.
Have fun with the crafting Colleen. Hugs, Kathy

hey Ladies! Good morning! I couldn't sleep last night too well either. Was awake until after 2 am. Blah.. I was very tired, don't know what my problem was.
I too love the world of crafting. Have tried my hand at many crafts and usually enjoy most any I do. Like you two.. jack of all, master of none. Maybe the group of us need to open an online craft site...lol.
Colleen, a couple of tips to help you get the weight loss going a bit more again... Increase the water intake, increase the protein intake and shake up your exercise routine a bit. Also, when you are eating, focus on high protein, low fat, non processed (or little processed) foods. If meats are hard for you, try FF refried beans with salsa and shredded cheese... YUMMY..
Looks like you have lost pretty good so far. Just keep on keeping on! Remember, this isn't a diet, its a lifestyle!
Hugs to you!
Have a great day everyone!
