Hi Shell, good to see you sharing here on the board. This may sound crazy to you, but you body is probably trying to figure out what happened to the stead input of higher calories. Try increasing your protein, and really increasing the water. When the cells are a little dry, they retain all the fluid present (just in case there will never be any more). Are you doing any walking/exercise? I go through times where I lose weight more quickly and then just putz with the loss. I retained fluid for a while after surgery too.
Are your bowels sending things through? Constipation? Sometimes causes lack of loss. Best thing is to keep following the plan set out by your surgeon and call their office or consult your nutritionist to see if anything needs to be tweeked.
Happy Thanksgiving and things will straighten out. Hugs, Kathy

Highest weight 406, Surgery weight 386, and now on the Losers Bench!
Hi Shell and welcome. I haven't had my surgery yet and do a lot of web surfing when I have the time. A few days ago I came across something that was very interesting to me and will probably be very useful if I have a stall or stalls early on. It was simply a week by week weigh in list of an RNY loser. She had reached her goal, I think it was aroung 140 lost, and I just glanced at that list and noticed that she had GAINED 3.6 about week 3, and then gained another 3.7 the following week. The week after that she LOST 16 lbs!!! After that she had steady losses 3-8 lbs f or weeks, then another gain of over 3 lbs. She had several more simular episodes of the steady losing, then a gain. My point is that all in all, she was steadily going down and in less than a year she still met her goal. I bet she had spells of freaking out, especially those 2 weeks in a row early on when she gained. So I decided I need to keep those numbers fresh in my mind so I don't freak out if that happens to me. Cause she succeeded, and reached her goal and so can you! Just hang in there and wait it out and it will pass. Hope this helps a little.
Hugs,
Rhonda

The others gave you excellent words of advice and encouragement. The plateus come for almost every single one of us. It is just a part of the journey, a frustrating part.. but part of it for sure. I was 11 days out when I hit my first plateau for nearly 2 weeks. I had plateaus every 3 to 4 weeks lasting 1 to 3 weeks throughout, but now at 1 year 4 months out I am down 107 lbs, and only 9 lbs from a normal BMI, and only 13 lbs from my personal goal. Your body has to take a break now and then and adjust to all the changes going on.
I agree too, that the gain is water weight. Increase your water intake and protein too, and I'll bet you will see the scale heading back down very soon.
Keep your chin up. If you do things like you should, you will succeed. Just allow your body to have moments of rest from the rapid loss, and don't be afraid of it. Really.. it is going to be okay and you are going to lose it!
Hugs!
