Question about plastic surgery post WL

I've been reading allot of the profiles of people who are post WLS and it seems the a majority of them have had plastic surgery for tummy tucks.  It is typical?  Is there anything that can be done to help tone during the weight loss time to avoid plastic surgery? Has anyone gone through surgery after  WL?

The need or desire to have PS after significant weight loss is a very individual thing. Some have very minimal excess skin, while others have much more. Part of this depends upon how overweight you are, how long you have been overweight, and the elasticity of your skin.
Toning and stregnth training exercises during the weight loss can help. But we are all different.

Look at your skin like the elastic in underwear. It will stretch and stretch, but eventually the elastic will begin to wear out. When this happens, you are more likely to have the excess skin. Most wls pateints have excess skin to one degree or another, some very mildly so, others not.

So all i can really tell you is to get to work on the toning and stregthening exercises and hope for the best!

I second Patrece's answer.  Hope for the best.  If you do develop sores or rashes due to excess skin, be sure to have it documented on your medical record.  It will help to prove to insurance that removal of excess skin will improve your health.
