A little closer to goal!

I had shared earlier in the week that although the scale did not reflect any loss, my pant size went down from a 12 to a 10. This must be my week...lol I have come down 2 lbs in the last 3 or 4 days. (since buying the new pant size.)
For the last 4 months or so I go through 3 weeks of plateau, then I lose 1 or 2 pounds, then back to the plateau. It gets like this the closer we get to goal, for most of us anyhow. WLS is known to help us lose about 70% of our excess weight. After that, we have to really work for it in most cases. I am well past the 70% of excess weight, and celebrating each and ever pound I manage to dispose of. I have 13 lbs to go to be at my goal of 150 lbs. Only 9 more to go to hit the status of "normal BMI" It has been years and years and years since I have had a normal BMI.

I am trying to change my way of looking at "lost weight". I am trying to look at it as eliminated or weight I have disposed of.  Why? Because when we "lose" something, there is always the possibility we will find it again, and I have NO intentions of doing so! LOL.

Have a great day all of my buddies! Do you have a success to share here? It doesn't have to be that scale victory... we have many victories and accomplishments in this journey that cannot begin to be measured by our scales! Share yours with us and let us celebrate your victories with you!

Patrece,

Congratulations on being one step closer to your goal!  It is truly inspirational when I read posts like yours and I really like your attitude of eliminating the weight rather than losing it.  I don't want to find it again, either.

Even though I was doing a little whining yesterday, I do have a few small victories to share.  I already have 5 pair of pants that will be given away; I can't wear them anymore as they are too big.  I have enough clothes to get me through another 50 or 60 pounds before it will be a problem.

My biggest "WOW" moment so far came a couple of weeks ago, the first time I got on the motorcycle since surgery.  The last ride I went on before surgery was really depressing because I felt like I was stuffed on the back of the bike behind my hubby. It made me feel bad that my husband had to do all that work to hold me up while we were stopped at lights, etc.  But the last ride we went on was terrific!  I had loads of room, I wasn't smashed into the seat like I was the time before.  My leather is already starting to get big on me and by next riding season, I'm gonna need all new gear.

I've also already noticed my knees and back aren't hurting as much as they used to.  I am also not out of breath climbing a flight of stairs, and that is probably a combination of the weight loss and quitting smoking.

Those are my victories so far and I sure am looking foward to more of them!

I'm so glad that there is a support group for us...Ihad my surgery on Oct 9th and am so far doing okay ...........my weight loss is steady but I know the road ahead is a long one and a rough road.....but if I wasn't ready I wouldn't have done it.............I did have some issues with food but I am managing to keep track of it all - what I can tolerate and what I can't......I do everything I can to get that protein in......but man, there are times I just can't eat anymore...LOL never NEVER thought i would say those words in my life time............
I just want to say..thanks for the inspiration I know that having peeps like you in a forum like this will keep me motivated to reach the end goal and stay healthy for the rest of my life........
Congratulations on all your success and I look forward to my small successes each day!

Hey patrece, you are doing super girl.   Sorry I haven't left you a comment before, just been real busy on this end and haven't been able to take the time to post to the board like I would like to.    It was great that you were surprised with a new pant size and that you have lost a few more pounds.   I know you sure have been working hard with your move and all.    Seems you are a very busy person.   As for me, like I said I have been real busy also and like you I think I am about
at the same place you are with the plateaus.   I have upped my workout time to 5 or 6 times a week for 90 minutes at curves and I am walking between 30 and 45 minutes a day now unless it is not weather permitable.   Seems like I am working a lot harder for the lbs to come off.   It seems to have slowed quite a bit for me also.  I am getting very close to my christmas goal weight now and am sure I will surprass that.   When I went to the doctors for my potassium the last time they re-measured my height as they were saying that it appeared that I was walking much more errect than I did pre surgery and early out.   Well guess what?    I actually measured 3 1/2 inches taller which makes my goal weight a bit higher than what I had initially set it at.   I am shooting for 145lbs but will be happy at 150.   I'm sure I will know what the goal should be when I get there.   Keep up the good work.    Hugs.............Anna
Enjoying the taste of goal.   Down 117 lbs.
