Good morning!  I thought I'd start the daily thread since I have to be up so early for work today!

I hope everyone is doing well and handling all of the challenges that seem to begin in October with Halloween and run through ....  hmmmm, April?  Between holidays and being cooped up in the winter, well let's just say I find these to be the worst months on the calendar as far as healthy living goes!

Things are getting very chaotic for me at work right now.  We have 2 ladies both going out on medical leave beginning next week, which is going to increase my workload considerably.   That's ok, I'm up to this challenge too!  Hopefully it will make these next several weeks fly by too as I finish my pre-op hoops.  But it may make my appearances here a little more sporadic!

I hope you all get through the hump day and the remainder of the week with healthy bodies and smiles on your faces.  Have a good one, folks!

Good morning, Darlene...and everyone else!  Wow, Darlene, if the time stamp is right on this message, you really do have to get up early!!  I am up early this morning because I just was tossing and turning in bed.  The pain medication was letting me sleep through the night and then some, but now that I have stopped taking it, I just can't seem to sleep through the night.  I wake up uncomfortable from sleeping on my back and can only tolerate a few minutes on my side before my incisions start complaining.  So, I got up at about 4:30, did some stuff for work, and now am checking out the OH boards.  :)

Challenges of the holidays.  For me, I am really concerned about Thanksgiving.  We (my husband, one of our "adopted" kids, her boyfriend and her sister) been invited to a friend's house.  Some other students from the college where I work will also be there.  Our friends know about the WLS, but all the others know is that I had surgery of some kind.  I just know there are going to be questions when I don't eat anything at the Thanksgiving meal...or pull out my pureed (yes, I will be on pureed foods) chicken salad or something.  It's going to be awkward, I think.  And since I haven't been back to work since the surgery, I know there will be lots of questions.  I am thinking this is all going to be too stressful....and that maybe I should just stay home while the others go and enjoy the Thanksgiving meal.

Anyway, that is something that is definitely on my mind.  I guess I have one week to figure it out, eh??  :)

Wishing everyone a very happy Hump Day!

Guayas, Don't let Thanksgiving be about the food.  Let it be that you are thankful and want to share conversation with others.  Enjoy your puree that day and share in the joy of the holiday.  Remember that you are doing something great to improve your health.

If you don't feel up to talking of the surgery, just say that your stomach is not up for the usual feast and let it go.

I had sleepless nights a few weeks out form surgery too.  Taking liquid benadryl for a couple of nights helped some.  The pain with side sleeping goes away is just a little more time.  Seems like just yesterday and i was in your very shoes.  I am 11 weeks out now and able to sleep on my stomach and any position that is comfortable.  I do feel my lower ribs poking the matress at times, just getting used to finding more bones that I can feel.

Thankful here in MN that I am on the loseing side of surgery.  Take care Guayas, Kathy

Morning Darlene and all the rest of my buddies.  Thank you for starting the day on the group page.  Yes, there are lots of Holidays coming up.  My husband has been asking what I want for Christmas, I am having a hard time coming up with a list.  I have most everything that I "need", and having a hard time thinking of what I "want".  I know that I am going to need more clothes at some time, don't know where I want to but them.  Let's out the gift card that he had planned to get me.  Any ideas from my friends?

Take care at work Darlene, your time will be here and hopefully those 2 ladies will be back from medical leave to pick up your hours.  Just keep following your surgeon's advice and come on back here from time to time to share with us.  Hugs, Kathy

My suggestion on the thanksgiving gathering, is to eat prior to going if you do not feel like expaining yourself to others. Then when they ask about why you have not eaten, just tell them your tummy just isn't up to it, you are not hungry, but appreciate the time spent with them, or something to that effect.

I will be posting in the blog in the next 2 or 3 days with tips on getting through this holiday season and avoiding the pressure of the food pushers, and how to deal with them.  Stay tuned!
Every one have an excellent day today!

Does anyone have a win or ahha moment to share?

I do.. my scale dropped down a lb just this morning. Am so glad of that!

Hugs to all. Share your wins with us and let us celebrate with you! It can be a small or big win. but give yourself credit for every good thing!
Hugs and love

Guyas (sp)-I agree with Kathy and Patrece, if they already know you had surgery (but not what kind) you don't have to volunteer any more info than you're comfortable with. Just say you're not quite up to a Thanksgiving dinner but didn't want to miss out on the great company!

Patrece- YEAH! ANOTHER pound! Doing the happy dance for you again!

Hope everybody had a great day. It's always evening before I have a chance to sign on.

Hugs
Rhonda
