Bariatric Buddy
A thought to ponder as you begin your Monday and the week ahead.
How many times were we told in our lives, "oh we can't let that food go to waste!" so we would obediently stuff ourselves to please the person behind the statement.
Here's a new twist on the exact same statement, that each of us needs to adopt in order to help us make the most of our journey. "Oh we can't let that food go to waist!"
Would you rather see the extras on your plate go to waste or to your waist? I know for me, I'd much rather give it to my dogs, or toss it away, than to mindlessley eat it, so it is not wasted. if you cannot bring yourself to toss it out, then store it for a future meal. One of the biggest favors we can do for ourselves is to learn to STOP eating before we are full or stuffed.
We need to learn to recognize "satisfied" and stop at that. So...eat slowly, savor each bite. Chew chew chew. Put your utensil down between bites. This helps us take longer to eat, thus allowing the brain to have the time it needs to pick up the message that it has had enough food, before we end up stuffed...and having our meal go to waist.
Have a great week all.
Hope to see you at chat tonight. Hugs!

My waist wants me to waste more waste, my dogs want me to just skip eating and let them have my plate. Feels odd to just toss something that you are no longer hungry for. I am getting used to that odd feeling. I was eating an apple with peanut butter yesterday, it was a little too big for me, kept passing the bowl to Dennis to offer him slices. He took what he wanted, still had 2 slices left over. Oscar and Gretta each got their own slice of apple, yes, they "needed" peanut butter too. lol.
Good thought to ponder. Thanks Patrece. Hugs, Kathy

Keep up the ight on that thought Sukie! We really have a lot of work to do on our brains after surgery, to get away from old mindsets, but we can do it. YOU can do it!
