Like I said before, no appologies needed.  Life is busy.  Just remember to be kind to Patrece everyday.  (((((Hugs)))))  Rain shifted to snow while I slept.  Now refreshed and headed to the gym for a bit before a shower and work.  Positive I slept well, even more positive that I will be headed to work in 2 hours.  YeeeHawwwww, I am just happy today, no explainations, just happy.  Yeay Life.  Hugs, Kathy

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!

Hi everybody. It's evening now, but I've been busy all day and haven't had a chance to get online til now. I hope everyone has had a good day. It's still been cool and dreary here but at least the rain has stopped and tomorrow is supposed to be nice, warm and sunny. The barbecue (what we call a "cookout") went well and my stepfather was very happy to have all his family there. I'm blessed to have a large and loving family! My stepbrothers wife has RNY about 2 months ago & is doing very well. She's lost about 46 lbs. Her good experience is helping my hubby not to totally freak out about me having surgery but it's still rough. This morning he looked at me after I dressed to go out and said "you look fine just like you are, why do you need surgery?" And bless his heart, he totally meant it! But I reminded him that even though he still sees the girl he married 25 years ago, I AM over 100 lbs overweight and having this surgery will keep me around and healthy alot longer. And yes, I am afraid too, but I am MORE AFRAID of NOT having the surgery and ending up like my poor father. I'd rather die than lose my leg, my eyesight and /or my kidney function. I loved my father very much, and we lost him 2 years ago at the age of 62. His body was more like 92 and he was in terrible shape from uncontrolled diabetes. I HAVE to do this for ME, because I see it as my only way out that will work for me long term. I know it will mean lifestyle changes and I will give up certain things, but what I get in return will be so worth any sacrifice required. Oh no I've done it again- I get carried away and blab on and on. I have to fugure out how to blog on here so I don't use up all the space on this forum. Sorry!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference...

Rhonda, please stop apologizing for sharing.  There is unlimited space here on the forum.  I love to learn more about people, just a very curious person.  You have good insight that you do not want to continue with the family health history.  My hubby was concerned about my wanting surgery too.  He even said (during my liquid preop diet) "you are losing so great, you don't even need to have the surgery"  I tried explaining that I couldn't and wouldn't be fun to live with if I was required to live on the liquids forever.  He just doesn't get it sometimes, then he may never 'get it'.  He is seeing the improvements in my health.  When I was on insulin, he would never watch me inject myself, took my last insulin dose the day before surgery.  I love not having the needles in my life.  Less bruising on my poor stomach with no more shots either.

As you can see, I sometimes get 'diarrhea of the mouth"  I find that some of the things that I sought out for comfort foods before surgery have no appeal to me whatsoever now.  My better eating habits are good for my hubby too.  Not having some of the junk foods in the house is good for both of us.

The rain turned to snow while I was sleeping, not at all surprised by that.  We had lovely weather for the first part of Nov.  Take care Rhonda.  Hugs, Kathy

Rhonda.. you feel free to type as much as you'd like! Our space is unlimited and so is your participation and posts! Love that you are sharing with us! Keep on doing so. It really helps us get to know you better too!

You are lucky to have a loving caring husband, but you are right...with out of control diabetes, it is like holding a loaded gun and shooting your organs and body parts off one at a time... With knowing what you shared about your father, I am very glad to know you are going to take positive action for a vital and healthy future!
Hugs
