Pouch Pain

Hello buddies!

For the past several days, I have had pain in my pouch when liquid or food hits it.  Sometimes it radiates across my mid-section, other times it just aches for a second or two.  It's not gut wrenching pain, but it's bothersome none the less.

I will be 8 weeks out from surgery tomorrow.  I have had twinges of pain in my pouch before, but not consistently like it has been lately.

I am assuming it would be much more severe and I would have other symptoms if I had developed a leak in my pouch or something like that.

Any ideas?  Suggestions?

Thanks!

Hey Kim,

Pain, pain go away, don't bother to come back any day.  Sorry, the poet just had to pop out for a oneliner.  Are you on any med to reduce stomach acid.  I was sent home with instructions to take pepcid for the first 6 months after surgery.  I would contact your surgeon in the morning and explain to the nurse what is happening.  This may be signs of something that needs medical attention.  In the meantime, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.  Hugs, Kathy

Hi Kathy!

I am going to take your advice and call my doc today.  I was prescribed and took Prevacid for a month following my surgery, but I haven't taken an acid reducer since then.  It very well could be something I need to go back on.

Thanks so much for your response!
