Hi All

My name is Tarcia and I am going into my surgery at 319lbs. I am excited to change my life but a little worried about re coporation time. I have to take an unpaid leave so I need to return pretty quick. All of you praying people keep me in your prayers. I am so glad this site is around I have gotten a lot of feed back from people who have had the surgery already. I know it will be a different experience for each individual but I still appreciate all the advice.

Thanks

Hi Tarcia, welcome.  Your surgery date is speeding up on us.  Just a week away now.   You didn't say which procedure you are having.  I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as we support you on the speedy recovery.  What type of work do you do?  Any lifting involved?  Desk work?

Take care as you prepare for the beg day.  Hugs, Kathy

Just take enough time that you can be alert and complete your calls.  Glad there is no lifting.  I spent a good deal of the first week sleeping and resting.  I felt good enough at 4 weeks out, heard from others that took less time.  My job involves lifting and work wanted me to wait till no restrictions on lifting.  The 6 weeks was great.  I had real vacation time and felt refreshed and ready to return to the daily tasks.

First, I am excited for you and your surgery date will be here before you know it.  It is definitely a life changing experience and I am so happy with my decision.

I know each surgeon is different, but I was told I could go back after 1-2 weeks. I also work in a call center at a desk, doing phone and computer work. I was able to return after 9 days (including weekends). I do wish I had taken longer, as I was not completely ready to start.

Hi Tarcia - I work at a desk and computer mostly, too.  I went back to work after two weeks and was totally ready.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...
