I was just advanced to puree foods and would like suggestions for protein rich foods.  I do not like the idea of tuna or any pureed meats.

Thanks.

Hi Pat,
My Dr. suggest pureed soups.  Home made chicken and veggie.  I can not have meats for a couple of more weeks.  Put pureed chicken is ok.  I can have V8 and tomato juice also.  (no protein in those tho).  Also soft eggs.  So Egg Drop soup has been my favorite meal.  Cottage cheese and applesauce also.

I can't wait till I can have pureed steak and potatoes!!  lol

Oh i almost forgot....I can have 1/4 baked potato.  So I cooked one in the microwave and added lowfat sourcream and almost died.  The potato went down like cement and slowly came back up.  HURT SO BAD.  So I am pureeing with skim milk and chicken stock to make it more soupy.  Works real good.  I also put Chocolate SF instant breakfast made with skim milk in my coffee.  YUM That has quite a bit of protein in it.

During my puree week, I mady my usual meatloaf, ran my stick chopper through it and ate slowly.  Try refried beans, fat free.  cottage cheese, greek yogurt flavored with sugar free jelly.

Pumpkin Protein packed Pudding       1 Package (1.4 oz) Sugar-Free Vanilla Jell-O Instant Pudding Mix * 3/4 Cup water 2 scoops  vanilla protein powder 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) ¼ - ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (Mix of Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg and Allspice) Directions:   - Measure 3/4 cup cold water (ignore package directions which call for 2 cups milk) - Add two scoops of vanilla protein powder to the 3/4 cup of water - Mix the protein powder in water by thoroughly shaking or stirring (blender worked great)   - Empty the Jell-O Sugar Free Instant (Not Cooked) Dry Pudding Mix into a bowl. - Add pumpkin pie spice to dry pudding mix. Start with 1/4 tsp and adjust to taste. - Blend spice and dry pudding mix thoroughly with a fork - Pour in the previously-mixed protein powder-and-water. - Add 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin - Stir/Beat until thoroughly mixed (a wire whisk or mixer works best)   Place in small container and chill in the fridge.   Top with Fat-Free Cool Whip. Enjoy!    Makes about 3 servings.     Nutrition Facts per serving: 107 calories, 14 g protein, 12 g carbohydrates, 3 g sugar. Does not include rhe cool whip.
